May I ask, do inspectors go for that expansion tank config? My concerns are that they're not always supported and the the distance from tank to heater may not be quite long enough per UPC?

Those silly expansion tanks. I have been replacing my water heaters in the same set up since 1977. Never needed an expansion tank or sediment trap. I will add a sediment trap next water heater install in a couple of years. DIYer 👍💪

You only need an expansion tank on a closed system, so it’s not always needed.

Awesome work man! Currently work for freeman gas in nc for about 2 years. Want to start my own business doing this but thinking about plumbing too. What do you think? That would mean I need 2000 hours of plumbing experience as well.

What else you going to be doing in the nex 2000 hours? If you want to be a plumber might as well work and learn how to plumb. Nothing wrong with gas fitting its part of plumbing I been in this for 30 some years and spent 10 years just pipe fitting Differant trades but its still pipe just differant specialties . I mean you could just go and do water heater installs . I dont know your situation but it takes awhile to get good at plumbing service and major expence if you wanted to stick to a specialty you could get pretty good with less experiance and money but then you need some marketing to get waterheaters every day or work for a water heater company

My friend cliff monteiro walked across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma as a body guard for Martin Luther King,he is also a former president of the NAACP in my home state of RHODE ISLAND.he called me today and he will be at my house this weekend with his beautiful wife. Im not really sure why those flexible gas lines are so frowned upon in some juristictions when they are prefectly allowed for most other gas appliance applications. As long as the line is tested and passes for no leaks, the conviences and ease of re-adjisment that a flexible line offers are appealing even where there isnt an earthquake concern. I can only presume it was a few sleazy underqualified jackasses and subsequent disasters that led to flex lines being looked down upon in some areas.
