if those are true 67 spindles than you needed to change inner bearing and seal. thay are a little bit differant from late 68 on 66,67, and part of 68 take a 311-405-625 and a 1311-405-641a just an FYI

Iam glad it's staying in the family. You and that car have helped me get back into the VW culture and dive back in head first helping me realize how much I do enjoy these cars. I have 3 other Detroit muscle machines, a Bbc 77 Nova, 78 El Camino, and a 94 v8 S10. I love and enjoy them, but my 73 Super Beetle with the 1641 in it now, but soon installing my freshly built by me1679,is my favorite of all my toys. That’s cool. I’m doing the same thing to my 67 have a 3 inch narrow beam. everything down as low as possible but now I’m putting on stock spindles going to run 165s upfront and 205 75 in the back and also getting rid of 3 1/2 inch tweed lift spindles on a lifted bug just going to use adjustable beam and stock spindles have 930s in the back, but trying to get every bit of height is a pain in the ass going to get just a little bit lower glad for your dad

Great timely video as usual!....I'm actually going to be doing the same thing coming up, but in reverse....I'll be switching my stock spindles out and trying some lowering ones that I just bought - it's too darn cold right now to do it though. We had a lot of changes come up recently too. Moved, downsized on vehicles, and some other things. Something God has been teaching me this year is that NOTHING in this life is permanent and we have to enjoy everything and everyone for the season that they are here. great work , i found the bearings on the 67 spindles were a different size (smaller ) as well as the tie rod end , so replaced them with 71 spindles

I figured the bearings would be different but they fit with no issues… maybe has something to do with the Empi disk brake kit.

I had a silver 2013 Jetta tdi, a few years ago. I bought new, and sold it back to vw, because of the diesel gate issue. I didn't know how it was going to end, so I felt better selling it.
