Welcome to America, Simeon! I love that you are reading those foundational documents. Not sure what all is included -- given the thickness, there's likely to be a fair bit of material in that book. I highly recommend you read the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers...they were written during the debates about how to improve upon the Articles of Confederation, which resulted in our current Constitution. They underscore the reality that there really is nothing new under the sun.

My Swedish husband was shocked when he first visited the U.S. I’m originally from California so I showed him where I grew up (San Jose/San Francisco/Santa Cruz). We also went to LA area together. He was surprised with San Francisco the most. A beautiful city that’s totally empty. A lot of closed shops. Everywhere we went in California didn’t have pedestrian friendly walk paths so he saw no people outside walking. However, Washington D.C was a very different experience for him. He loved Georgetown. In his words the east coast felt more European. We haven’t visited the south or north yet but it’s on our bucket list. Welcome back 🇺🇸 ❤️
@L1623VP Жыл бұрын
"...the east coast felt more European." That makes sense because the eastern U.S. was founded first and by Europeans. As such, it has more brick buildings, narrower streets in the cities, and other attributes like cohesive public transportation that feel more European. The west cost, the newest part of the country, is all steel, glass, stucco, red tile roofs, and huge highways for car culture. The one west coast exception I found was San Francisco. It felt so much more eastern to me than any city in California, especially since I was living in LA at the time. San Francisco at that time, around 2000, was one of America's finest cities. I loved it. It's a shame what has happened to it now.

My family and I welcome you to our country. My family has resided largely in upstate New York and nearby in Vermont for many generations. Our values are mainly conservative and we are both concerned and disappointed in the “leaning leftward” direction of many of our larger population centers along with the mainstream media. Most of the physical part of our country is populated by caring and friendly people so I am confident that with due diligence you will find a nice place to settle in. Where we reside between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green mountains of Vermont we enjoy the ever changing beauty of the four seasons. There is plenty of room to breathe and there is plenty of inexpensive former dairy farm land available. Best wishes on your quest and feel free to reach out to me if I can be of any help.

Ya' gotta try the South! You know Southern hospitality is a thing! 😊 You may want to give a listen to or watch a fairly new podcast, Homestead Shop Talk. It's three homesteader guys chatting about various things, but on episode 16, the two from California, Jason & Ben, discuss the culture shock of leaving California. They both currently live in NC. I live north of them in Virginia near two universities & several smaller colleges. I hate to say that my hometown has lost a lot of Southern Hospitality. We're still friendly but not to the extent described by Jason & Ben. My suggestion is to move to a small town to really appreciate Southern Hospitality. I enjoyed your video. I'm glad it popped up as recommended. Welcome to the USA. ❤️ 🇺🇸

The further you drive east it gets greener and greener. It was a lovely sight to see. TN also has 4 seasons, it depends on which area you are in, in how much snow you get. We normally get very little. Relax, get your bearings and then go exploring. I watch another u-tube homesteading family who moved from CA to NC with their 4 children at the time. Yes, most Americans, though having been deprived of a true education in their history, know instinctively how to keep our rights and principles. For decades we have undergone an ignorant and intolerant counter-cultural indoctrination to revise and deny our Judeo-Christian and American foundations, all in the name of tolerance. The revisers keep reversing reality. Repetitive folly cannot long be mistaken for wisdom without the truth intervening. ❤

You can be born and raised and live your entire life in America but never hope to understand it. It is really at least 9-13 distict cultural zones each with different foods, norms, and ways of life. Boston is as different from California as apples are to oranges. But you can live and hope to understand one region, like the Southwest or the Midwest. I live in the Pacific Northwest and life is very different here from anywhere else in the US.

@Simeon&Alex - Home is always where your loved ones and your heart are. I lived in Canada and the USA in the 80s and 90s, and it was a culture shock for me back then. She was told, in Germany, that there was nothing but Cowboys and Indians living here. She let them know that wasn't true and that they could safely visit here without being concerned that they would get in the crossfire between Cowboys and Indians. ha They did and were absolutely shocked how normal it is here, just like other places. I don't watch any MSM (Main Stream Media), all they do is lie, lie, and lie. I hope you will be able to take the kids to many of the great places in the U.S. Y'all are in my prayers! 👍

If you want a great experience, go to what we Americans call a barbecue. The kind where all sorts of people get together to enjoy good food smoked somehow or grilled to perfection. Nothing connects people, or get them talking, like a good meal together. So many cultures have come here that America is unique in that respect. Depending on the city, you can get good from just about every region of the world here. Simeon, dinner on me if you and the family ever travel to Wisconsin. Would be my treat and honor to have you as guests to the dinner table. By the way, a local meat shop produces some of the best bratwurst in the entire state. If you love bratwurst, Wisconsin is probably the national capitol for it! Every flavor of bratwurst is possible to be had here. If you don't see it on the shelf, a good meat shop will make it for you if you have a recipe for it.

The fence that you like is called a "Split Rail" fence, based off utilitarian livestock fences of the past, but mostly used as a decorative fence today. Obviously, farmers and ranchers in the old West did not have the means to buy expensive milled lumber and wire fencing to keep their animals in, but they usually had a limitless supply of straight-grain conifer trees and rudimentary tools like axes and wedges to split timber into useable but rough fence rails and posts. It is interesting that this rustic style of fence is popular today. Although most people with decorative split rail fences live in suburban areas and have purchased the fencing from someone else, they are either consciously or sub-consciously installing the aesthetic of our country's self-sufficient past into the public "face" of their home.

My family is struggling. We are several of thousands of healthcare workers wrongly fired for not getting a specific shot. What my husband and I have seen in hospital settings is atrocious , and who we’ve been standing up to it for over three years. The stories I have are heart wrenching. Because we’ve fought against tyranny, we have been spiritually, physically and financially attacked by our own National, state and local Government . People are afraid to risk their livelihoods over fighting for righteousness and their children and grandchildren, leaving those willing to stand against evil, constantly being attacked to the point of exhaustion. Perhaps those new families coming through the right way, will have pride in their new home and like you, read the Constitution and Bill of Rights to KNOW what this country stands for, so they will fight for America for the generations to come. America was founded on God. She wasn’t meant to lose those foundations our Forefathers built this country on. Thank you for putting a smile on my face today. It’s been very hard not to struggle with skepticism in a world that has drastically changed personally for my family. Yet we continue to stand every time that they have knocked us down. I pray at the end of this, it was worth your move to fight with us to keep America’s freedom and a land of hope. Peace and love of Christ.
