Can't beat a bit of glam rock! When music was still fun.
@rjrburton2052 ай бұрын
@thespies2075: yep, the operative phrase is “when music was still fun”. My high school was lucky, we had a low wattage radio station and my algebra class was in the same room as the radio booth. Talk about fun, we could slip in music requests under the door and we all knew the DJ for that hour. So, yes indeed, it was a lot of fun 😊

Brian Connolly was just a major talent.....He was unique....I would say he is one of the most interesting and intense lead singers in rock history....I would put him up there with Jaggar and even Elvis as far as being a sweet, natural talent....Connolly was a down to earth dude with a sad past, but despite it all, he was just a tower of energy, charisma and power.

I'm over 70 and absolutely HATE anything shoved out in MONO, as they (the sweet and all other bands of the late 60's and disco era 70's) played some beautiful music in full noise STEREO. Radio stations world wide, played the stereo versions into their "only mono" AM Radio broadcasts, for many "fans" to bootleg copy (dub it was called back then) a radio version onto compact cassette tape. Some TV stations were still MONO too, so people's VHS dubs were also in crappy mono, although Colour Videa was being broadcast. It's these MONO versions that "Sweet Official" is shoving out now, as if that was "all" there was to it.!!! This makes me extremely angry, that the so-called official KZbin channel, assumes that older (and younger) fans, won't mind if it's in MONO. But I mind. I was a sweet fan and had a LOT of their vinyl and tape STEREO releases as well as being right up front and "personal" to the onstage speakers - in a live concert in Dunedin - where my stomach was "physically" pushed in and out with the powerful SPL in that venue, IN STEREO. I thus HATE with a passion, anything now, in basic (crap) MONO. Why? Because I am also a stereo remastering technician, who (since 1965) has hand-built his own versions of multiple channel ANALOGUE surround sound systems that "instantly" turn crappy MONO into one or three speakers at ONE SIDE/END of a room, into the only output available, from a MONO track version of anything. Only full noise stereo has presence, depth, width & height. Only true and properly balanced stereo has an absolute CENTER of room "center full frequency channel too. PLUS, using analogue, there is ZERO time delayed sweet spot creation, between front & rear or side to side. Only an analogue syetem, can recreate exactly what the microphones heard, when the musical content was recorded (differently) on two (at least 6' to 10' wide-apart mirophones. Trying to get any placement, depth, nuance / flavour or "height" back from a mono track, is nigh on impossible Unless a technician speand MONTHS meticulously altering it slightly, on every frequency, for the one side to the other, to gain a "viable" stereo spilt. Taking a standard stereo recording though, and playing-with-it, as it plays, one does NOT have to do a single thing, except listen to full bodied correctly placed surround sound, putting the listener right bng smack in the middle of the recording studio itself, with various instruments and singers, all around. THAT is why I hate these crappy (pure) MONO video's here on ths so-called official SWEET channel.

this was a big hit in 75, we use to hear it at the skate rink when i was a kid, looking back at their music, i think they were ahead of their time, the band was a trend setter for other rock bands, Andy Scott had lots of great guitar riffs, i still hear in other bands songs. i think they were the first glam rock , heavy metal band. and they blazed a trail for hard rock. THANKS.... to THE SWEET !!! you will live for ever,,,

Never gets old. And, got to love the platforms. Wish they would make a comeback. People would ask how we could walk in them and we would explain how much more comfortable they were than high heels---less incline from front to back. I must have had a dozen pairs.

Is it just me or does Brian seem super human like he is from another world. It would have been great to be there but I was 6 years old. 70s BEST DECADE 80s GREAT DECADE 90s end of the GREAT MUSIC.
