Very nice explanation & video... But... Looked like you skipped over a bit of prep in the beginning. (I'm probably mistaken) In the beginning... Prior to video It looks like you used a tool to taper the material around the hole allowing for the strongest & cleanest possible finish... ?

So the fiberglass sticks to the plastic bumper better than the bondo hair, and the rough texture of the fiberglass gives the bondo something to grab onto. For smaller holes, could you just scuff the bumper with 40 or 80 grit and apply bondo hair directly, skipping the fiberglass step?

my issue is i can not get to the back of it. I have a two holes on each side of a low to ground van. The day i got it I went through a car wash (was used and dusty) and did not know better. It punched a whole on each low bumper side front doors. Trying to figure out how to fix it. I can NOT get under the car to the back side. trying to see if any hacks to fix it.

Hi there, great video and instructions. I’m wondering when to use the poly-flex as I see you have it listed under the items you used for this fix.
@GK03214 жыл бұрын
My educated guess is he applied it directly over the front side to fill in the gap between the bondo hair and the front side of the bumper; I was wondering the same thing, myself.

I have about a baseball sized hole on my bumper cover on my 2005 Honda Accord and cracking around it as well, if I were to take it to a shop around how much would it cost? I know you can’t give me an exact answer because every shop but is different but what’s your guess? Would the whole cover have to be replaced?

Instead of cardboard, could you use a piece of a "soda can" worked smooth, then made to conform to the shape of the bumper. This should make a backing that is wrinkle free and require less sanding.
@SweetProjectCars7 жыл бұрын
thats a great idea, but why we use the cardboard is it leaves the surface a bit rough so the poly flex coating will adhere to it better. thank you for the great comments and tips :)
