Great video, was watching this just before I attempt it on a bumper, but every time I watch a new video there’s always a new item I need to buy, I did not know of this blending agent when you blend clear. I haven’t seen this and other videos, possible to do it without?
@GarageNoise2 жыл бұрын
You can do it without. If you can spray a little reducer on the blend area after you clear. Works the same

You can use icing , I would use it over the paint. prep the paint with 180 fill and block with 180 the 320.

Did you sand between base coats? How many base coats did you apply?
@GarageNoise3 жыл бұрын
No sanding between base coats. 2-3 coats of base typically. You want to make sue the primer is covered, add coats untill coverage is good . Thanks for the comment!

What is a blending agent or reducer?
@GarageNoise4 жыл бұрын
Blending agent is a product that helps the new clear bite into the old when you blend clear. Melt away is the name of one of them, you spay it over the blended area. Most of the time I will use a little reducer and spray it over the blend right after clearing. Thanks for the comment

How do you handle plain black bumpers, like on the jeeps, I see alot of people doing this to painted bumpers, but not one remove scuffs of plain black bumpers

Yeah the reason is most of those bumpers are textured so it's more involved to make it look good.

I have a ding in the bumper and it made a small hole in it. I filled it with bonding and painted it but it still doesn't blend in with the car panel/paint. Would sanding it w 3000 grit and polishing work to blend it in?
@GarageNoise3 жыл бұрын
Did you clear it? If you put clear on it you could wet sand it. Be careful sanding the blend too much tho.

Excellent how to, so when you spray the coats of primer, color, then clear, you don’t wet sand in between, only at the end?? Also, is the blending agent a type of clear??

At the last you said a blending agent.... Not sure what you mean?? What aerosol blending agent is it? This is different than a clear coat? Also any particular aerosol clear coat? Thank you!
@GarageNoise4 жыл бұрын
A blending agent is used when blending clearcoat. You can buy it in an Aerosol can . One blending agent I've used is called melt away, I believe. I don't normal do clear coat blends but when I do I spray a little straight reducer on the blend to wash it in. As for a Aerosol clearcoat I recommend their's a link in the description of the video to a good one. Thanks for the comment !

got any tips on how to fix a small scratch in plastic trim that usually runs down the side of the car?

If it's a painted trim to match the car you can repair it just like a bumper. If it's textured black trim then there's not much you can other than replace it.
