What a great haul and fun trip and when you stopped and showed my beloved Island Inn which I know is partially open but still brought me to tears to see just the carcass of the place my husband and I have had years of memories at. Where you were shelling today is ground zero of where my shelling addiction began. Thank you for sharing this and I know we will get back there soon. 🐚🐚🐚🐚🤗

Hello Beach Angel! How happy I am to hear the dulcet tones of your greeting! Yes, let's go to the beach, dear lady! I can close my eyes and pretend that I am there with you. I am always amused by the intro shot of the Florida Fighting Conch struggling against your gentle but firm grip. I can almost hear his imaginary voice (sounding much like our dearly loved Gilbert Gottfried) shouting "Hey, lady! Why don't you go and pick up somebody your own size! Maybe somebody's EMPTY shell, huh?! Can't you see that I'm trying to LIVE HERE?! Put me DOWN!" Anyway...I've spent too much time counting crochet stitches, I suppose. Oh, the powers that be have done a great job of rebuilding after Ian. They seem to have tried to put everything back as it was. Very nice restoration. I'm glad you don't suffer personally from red tide, that miserable stuff. I heard you guys had it pretty bad and that the Atlantic coast has a really massive float of sargassum weed coming onshore. Ah, the joys of living at the ocean's doorstep... I wonder, Sharmon, if a gull eats a crab which is sick from red tide, does it become ill, as well? That crab sure looks like he feels sorry for himself, poor thing. What a shell pile! That's the stuff of my landlocked dreams! I could be happy to spend all day parked right there! I love the yellow shells, too! The yellow cockles and the buttercup lucines always catch my attention. I love, love, love the little calico scallop shells, too! That lightning whelk shell is so pretty. The Creator must have had so much fun painting seashells! I guess He decided that gooey little animals like scallops and such needed a beautiful home to inhabit. I love the purity of the white bay scallops. They are so lovely. Oh, Beach Time and a rising surf! Hurray! Such a lovely sound. It's so darned easy to run out of superlatives when you're at the beach! Oh, the wonders which await in the glorious depths of a shell pile! I feel like I could just dive in! The deep russet of that rough scallop is gorgeous! What a lovely frond oyster! A lightning whelk and that beautiful paper fig! A whole one of good size! What an awesome addition to your collection! Oh, I'd pick up every calico scallop I saw. You're exercising such admirable restraint! It's spring, so why not gather a bouquet of tulips? The sea wants you to have a well rounded day, so it threw out a lettered olive for you. That's a nice sized apple murex. Holy moly, a flat! We used to find those a lot up around Pensacola. Note to self: Blue Giraffe. I'm glad you had such an amazing day shelling at Sanibel. It gives me hope that soon Ian will be only a memory and not a nightmare. Thanks for a great video and for taking me along, if it is only make believe. It's always a fun trip with you. Either you edit out the days when all you get is a sunburn or the shelling there is absolutely incredible! I'm glad we see you finding lots of shells and being happy. We can all live vicariously because of you, my Beach Angel Until next time, big hugs and lots of shells to you and love from The Lost Mermaid

Truth be told I show up at the beach and film anything and everything I think is interesting. Then when I get home I pick what I think are the most fun things and try to keep the video around 30 minutes. I start my naturalist classes soon. I worry a bit on how I'm going to be making videos, working and taking this class but I guess I'll find out soon enough! Maybe I can make videos on my "class trips." ❤️

@@SWFBeachLife Don't worry! Maybe you can make up your videos from things you've done and call it a greatest trips video or something like that. Or maybe you can make longer footage when you do go and then use the extra to make videos. It'll work out! I have faith in you!

We were on Sanibel in Jan. The destruction from Ian was overwhelming. We were able to see some others walking on a beach, so we pulled into the only parking spot that wasn't posted "No Trespassing" between two condo units. Soon, several others did the same. It was nice to talk with other people and look forward to the beautiful Sanibel again. Another great haul for you of shell beauty! Question: How was the new parking experience via your cell phone? I don't have one and will be there in May, and was wondering if I could still park or not. Thanks as always for the beautiful shelling video!
@SWFBeachLife

I LOVED using my phone to pay for parking. I have a rather pricey parking permit that I purchased, so I can use that at this lot but I used the phone system over at Blind Pass before my fancy parking permit and it was awesome. So much easier if you end up staying a little longer. You can just add money to the app!

Hi, we did go to Zephyrhills last week as well as West Palm Beach Garden. My family brought me out to Honeymoon Island. I was a bit amazed at the number of people, and it was high tide. I found a few things, but the amazing difference from your beach time from mine was too much. I did find a few Chestnut turbins, a fine small Sun Ray Venus, a few turbin apertures (can't remember what you called them). Then we drove to see my daughter for the weekend. I am not sure what beach we were at but in West Palm. It was near sunset and she showed me the beach, but I knew there was a large shell pile in my future and couldn't wait. I shelled in the dark, my Kim and her girls helping. We went back on Saturday. The pile is at least 25 to 30 feet high from some dredging they did. I found most of what I wanted with the exception of a complete Lightning Whelk. My girls had already gathered some things for me and I came home a very happy sheller. I also found dozens of hugh Lettered Olives. They were beach worn but still were in very good shape. They were shiny, had a good tip, and were whole. I identified most of what they had collected for their backyard and carport railing amazing them. I did give you all the credit and was pleased I could impress them with what I learned from you and told to check your postings out. You are amazing. Thanks so much. ❣️🦋❣️🐚🐚🐚🌊🌈🥰

Gee Willakers, get yourself one of those glass jar lamp bases and knock yourself out ! Have Fun !. I did, --found one at a thrift store. A girl can always justify a pretty lamp ! 💡lol One time, I found I had a ton of bivalves. A friend's little girl was going to have a birthday party, so we did a beach theme (in Missouri). So we put a tube of sand in a plastic wadding pool and mixed in those bivalves. The kids lost their minds !!. She had a mermaid cake, too. Blessings !.

Seeing all those shell piles got me so excited, as I am coming to Marco in exactly 1 month!! 😁🤩🤩 My first time, and I can't wait, now that I have learned so much about shelling from you!! We plan to spend one day at Sanibel Which beach should we go to there?

If you can get there early, go to Blind Pass. If that doesn't work, head on over to the Tarpon Bay parking lot (where I filmed this video). Both are good but you'll have less foot traffic from other's at Blind Pass.

Nice video of shells; however please warn beach goers about going in the water when red tide is present at any level; only respiratory issues are talked about.. but what happens to dolphins turtles and manatees who die from red tide getting in their spinal cord can happen to humans.. any red tide laced water up one’s nose from swimming can have serious neurological health consequences such as partial paralyzation of arms and legs…thank you for listening.

What a great beach walk!! I can’t wait until it warms up a bit so I can get to our beaches!! I can’t believe the rack line of shells that you had!! That foam was getting in the way a bit but I love how you went and took a look anyways and found some keepers!! I think you could’ve used a shovel and took a bucket or two of shells home with you, there was so many!! Thank you for another great video!! I so look forward to them every weekend!! Have a great week! 🥰🐬

This was an awesome trip; thank you so much. When you go back, if you feel like having a treat, The Shack of Sanibel ice cream at 1219 Periwinkle Way is amazing! This past weekend, I gave my granddaughters (ages 3 & 5) each a Florida Fighting Conch. My heart melted when I came down stairs only to find them holding those 2.5 - 3” conchs up to their little ears saying “I can hear the ocean”. Love, love.

Hi Sharmon, Wow, this windy beach with all the waves and the foam really feels like walking along our North Sea beach. But I would love to find all those gorgeous shells. 😍 Wow, what a great haul again. I really love all the Calico scallops. I'm in love with all the colours. It's so good to see that Sanibel is bouncing back. The island is still gorgeous. ❤ Thank you for taking us with you on your beach walks. I loved every minute of it!! Hope you have a fantastic week! Big hug and lots of love, xoxo ❤️, Ilona

It was nice to experience a different kind of weather day with all the wind. I've always been interested in the weather, but boy when a front comes through the water really lets you know about it! I couldn't believe the piles of shells. I should since it's Sanibel and all, but still! I recorded the video for April 9th today - it's going to be a good one! I hope you are feeling good and I'm sending hugs, love and sunshine from Florida! ❤️🌴🌊🐚

We get a really good look at your treasures and you have such a steady hand...some other people's videos will make you feel sick with the unsteadyness. I do sell my shells and finally opened an Etsy store! I add some to my collection, I put some to the side to make things with and now I'm having a much easier time selling shells doing it through an online store. I was trying to do with through email and it was too much work. I have to find a reliable way to keep my collection under control! 😂 www.etsy.com/shop/SWFBeachLifeStore
