SWFL Bald Eagles: HATCH IMMINENT! 🦅M15 rolling pipped eggs 🥳 before he & F23 zonk out 😴 2023 Dec 30

Both eggs have big pips and movement can be seen inside. M15 rolls the eggs several times ~ maybe trying to help the hatch a bit. Then both he and F23 have a deep sleep in anticipation of nonstop action soon to come!

Thanks so much for this video. I haven't had time to check in and am thrilled that both eggs have pipped--and even peeped. Like others, I'm concerned about the one egg that looks crushed. What a process those little birds have to go through to get out of the eggshell, and I'm hoping for a happy outcome for both chicks. SKH, I've been watching videos on this hatching quite a bit today and fans are noting that the inner membrane of the #2 egg is exposed so much it is drying out, thus making it harder for the chick to hatch. The egg looks somewhat "crushed" to me, which I've never seen before, at least not with falcon eggs--as you know, I'm new to eagle hatchings. Plus, there is blood on the eggshell. I'm encouraged by M15's attempts to aerate the nest, enfluffle the eggs, etc. All we can do is wait and hope for the best. Thanks for the evening update, SKH.

Yes, many theories on the state of egg #2. I’m encouraged by the chick’s movement. Sending positive vibes and strength to the little one in hopes that it emerges in good health.

Elfruler's explanation was most helpful. The poor little eaglet gave it his/her best shot under the circumstances. So sad that this occurred; however, egg #1 was a successful hatch and that is cause for rejoicing.
