SWFL Eagles_ E15 - A Vocalizing Machine Early & Fancy Dancer, Brancher & Flier Later 8-24-20

With Harriet & E15 both perched in the nest tree before daylight, E15 started vocalizing to make sure Mom knew h/she is still around. LOL. Harriet made one flight out and along the road looking down (a sure sign there was roadkill below) so it was quickly removed from the road. M15 flew in to the west pasture, perching briefly before flying SW out of sight. Harriet flew south later. E15 quieted down with no adults around and soon got interested in branch hopping and dancing. A misstep during dance found E15 flying, touching some trees on the way before landing in the CSPS (church side pond snag). Once there E15 broke off large pieces of bark handling them with their beak and feet. E15 then flew to the pond, scattering the birds there, got a drink and flew to a pylon to watch any activity in the pastures and sky. E15 seems content to remain in the area at 146 days of age.

I'm so happy and relieved you'll be continuing to post videos and info after the camera goes down for the season. It's such a joy to see this family and I'm not ready to part from them yet! I'm secretly hoping that E15 just sticks around and becomes an aunty to the next group of eaglets. Maybe H & M can set her up in an in-law nest nearby? :-)

Spirit Sealed, yes, the cams are being turned off later today until fall. I will continue to visit the nest to check on the eagles while the cams are off and share what I see with everyone. I've tried several times to watch the live cam this afternoon but there seems to be problem. E15 was there this morning. Not sure she received her meal delivery.

Thank you Vicki for this wonderful video!! E15 had some funny moments today, like on the snag when she pulled that big shrunk of tree off she wasn’t quite sure what to do with it! Sure did try very hard to hold it and hop around!! She did look very pretty with the flowers behind her! I snapped a still shot of that!! I see where the nest area seem to be sunny and a bit windy. Unlike us in FWB, we are a few cities south of Tallahassee. It rains constantly for couple days with a small break. I wish I could be there to enjoy the weather and get to see the incredible eagle family with my own eyes.

@@wskrsnwings I also notice the nest site is closer to the resident and not far from traffic street/hwy. I never see any wild bird of prey nesting so close to human such as this one. H & M must've got use to of human surrounding somehow.

@@MsTea850 - with the bald eagle population continuing to increase in FL, we are seeing many more nests in suburban settings. Harriet has had a nest in this nest tree since 2006 and remaining there through the four laning of Bayshore Road and the building of the shopping center across the street.

@@wskrsnwings That's interesting. I'm glad they thrive. I saw one soaring in circle above the tree top about 2 weeks ago I know he/shes is looking for food. Maybe one of the neighbor loud barking little dogs, lol. Sorry having to say that.

I learned it takes 5 years to get the white head feathers

crazyday10, it takes five years for eagles to get their white heads. Their beaks, eyes and feathers change gradually over a five year period to maturity.
