E15 returned to the nest tree last evening and was still there, perched on the veranda branch, vocalizing away when I arrived this morning. Harriet, on the attic branch, and M15, in a snag in the west pasture, showed tolerance for E15's presence and watched their territory before flying off to the SW chasing a bird flying too close to the nest area. E15 flew too, but went south to perch in the pine by yonder pond. E15 watched alertly for a chance to "grab" breakfast. E15 got that chance as h/she saw Harriet fly back to the nest and M15 approaching in the distance with prey. E15 beat M15 to the nest and claimed the prey. Harriet flew to the attic and M15 flew to the pond. Harriet flew off again to check out another bird flying in the area. M15 walked up the bank, looking for a stick, grabbed one and returned to the nest, only to find E15 flapping her wings at him and covering her food. M15 attempted to place the stick but E15 went after him, so M flew up above the nest. M15 showed what a great provider he is this morning bringing his Season 8 offspring food and trying to continue rebuilding the nest for his Season 9 offspring-to-be. How long E15 will stay, we do not know. And we just keep learning about the eagle way of life from this amazing family.
Thank you SWFEC, hosted by Dick Pritchett Real Estate, for providing & maintaining suitable trees & environment for this Bald Eagle Family. www.SWFLEagleCam.com
Thank you to Dick Pritchett Real Estate (SWFEC), Church of the Nazarene, Eagle Landing & several friends for allowing me to film on their premises.

Home is where the heart belongs and I guess that goes for Eagles too. To us viewers it’s a great thing to have E15 return to her nest tree as we all have gotten so very much attached to her. I personally will leave the future to the Eagles and just enjoy E15 as much as possible ❣️ Thank You Vicki for filling us in of the family’s whereabouts, I really appreciate YOU ❤️🦅❤️

I am concerned about E15's return for food and interfering with nest work, but if Harriet and M15 are tolerating it, I guess it's all right. "Failure to launch" is taking on a whole new meaning. It was reassuring to hear your comment about the parents not seeing E15 as a threat.

Wow! It is sure a rare sight indeed to see a juvenile at the nest this time of year when adults are trying to prepare the nest for the coming season. Every juvenile on every nest I watch has left and parents are all rebuilding and getting reacquainted. This is such a beautiful sight. I hope she finds some others to migrate up the coast with. My prayers are with her and praying E16 is full, safe, and soaring high! Thank you Vicky for all you do keeping us updated! God Bless you🙏💗🦅💗💗💗

Great vid showing other views besides the LIVE Cam! I knew E15 did not go far so was not surprised to see E15 return to Nest Home yesterday evening. And E15 was by herself tucked in for the night when Harriet & M15 came rushing to the Attic defending against an intruder (not E15) and seemed to be protecting E15. They startled E15 but all 3 were vocalizing and defending the nest as an intruder was flying above or near the Nest. Was it an Owl I wondered? E15 loves her Home and cannot blame her. I also thought she had some crop and assumed E15 has been doing well or okay. Love your vids and the way you talk so lovingly to E15 & Family (which most of us do at our viewing devices.)
@wskrsnwings
@wskrsnwings 3 жыл бұрын
Empressangel, it most likely was an owl or another eagle approaching their nest tree. They were not vocalizing at E15, you're correct. Yes, E15 did have a crop so has been eating, whether on her own or supplemented by the adults.

E15 is such a BIG, little stinker! 😂 I'm anxious to see how everything ultimately turns out. Fingers crossed that it all goes well. I'm sure being a juvenile eaglet is not an easy life, given what I've read about their survival rates. I'll continue to stay positive in thinking that both E15 and E16 will fly high, with full bellies and have wonderful adventures and future families! Thank you Vicki for the excellent video view today! I've been watching the Live cam but it's currently not showing too much. At least not until the other cams are back Live! So what happens now that E15 is back? Has this happened before? I’m so happy she is being fed by dad. Was worried that she isn’t eating properly.

Carole Owens, we do not know how everything will play out. It has never happened at this nest before, but it does happen. The adults continue to tolerate her presence and also feed her.

E15 does not look in good shape to me. I wonder if s/he wasn't able to find food or capture it. her/his feathers show stress. In my opinion.

Tamara Gonzalez She’s fine. Much of the time she was halfway mantling puffing her feathers out to beg.

Tamara Gonzalez, your opinion is fine. But E15 returned with a visible crop. So she has been eating whether solely on her own or supplemented by the adults. Her feathers are not showing stress.

@@wskrsnwings Don't patronize me. Actually Lady Hawk did a first video of E15 arriving at night and no she did NOT have a crop. M15 fed her that morning and from then on she started to look better each time she has been fed. And it isn't just my opinion it was many others. Second you and I and all of us do NOT know if E15 is fine. She projects problems that are subtle that you may not notice but others do. Time will tell if she is able to leave and stay gone.

A lot of Commotion Going on; Cars! Trucks! plane! Helicopter! I can’t understand why E15(female) can’t go find her own fish or for mom & dad! Instead of bagging for food with charps! She seems still out of balance on the branches..... sorry been busy to watch few days now! I saw last was when H & M was fixing nest! How will new babies will arrive with old baby still lingering.....(could she(E15) take turn to watch the babies? Oh! Today I saw our own Bald Eagle passing by my Patio! 7:50am! LadyHawk- do you think he/she will pass by at the same hour tomorrow??

USNGray Ghost she can hunt on her own. I learned from viewers like us & LadyHawk. I believe eaglets turn 5 months can leave nest;(fledge).

Cr Kwon, I am Wskrsnwings. Lady Hawk is a different person who also does videos without narrative (from the live cam at her home) where I do live videos from the nest with narrative. As far as E15 finding her own food... Hunting takes skill and practice. Some are not good hunters even at maturity. At least through the first year, the juveniles get food by stealing from others and eating carrion. The parents will feed them at times as they learn on their own as long as they remain in the area. As far as E15's balance... E15 does not always land awkwardly or miss the landing. We have no other juvenile his/her age to compare how they act at this age, but I think we would see the same lack of strength and coordination. First year juveniles are naturally unsteady with landings, flights, eating, and many other things. They are still learning, honing not only their hunting skills, but their flying skills. As far as what will happen as the time for laying eggs gets closer (late November), we just have to wait and see. No one knows what will happen except our eagles. How nice you saw an eagle. They do not always return to the same place or flight path every day.

wskrsnwings Ah... Thank you letting me know! I thought you guys were same person and this was LadyHawk’s personal account. Yes, they are learning stage as I didn’t realized eagles fly off so soon from their age(months). So it seems like for the birds for sure! I hope they do fly away near and find someone so at least they don’t get hurt or die due to starvation! Do you know if you got to see E16? I wish I lived near to see them. I only watch all eagles up in air only here. Thanks for going out to sight so early in the morning to take videos for us! Especially close ups! It is hard task and you are doing wonderfully! And looks like enjoying the time as well! Thank you! Thank you for the videos! ❤️

@wskrsnwings
@wskrsnwings 3 жыл бұрын
Arline Leven, no one has seen E15 catch a fish. During the first year, juveniles survive by eating carrion and stealing from others. That is why learning to steal is so important. It takes a while to perfect hunting and fishing skills.
