This season rewrote itself with a reclutch, and is working itself out in amazing ways. Everything is as it should be, as the Divine does not come from norms, more from a limitless potential. E15 has been prepared by two outstanding eagle parents, M15 and Harriet, and is equipped to thrive. She will leave at her appointed time. Let us sit back and enjoy the gift. Trust The Eagles.

Thanks for all you do and for another vid of E15 & Family! Great shots of E15. Besides food drop, E15 is also guarding and defending the Nest Home. E15 did an excellent job alerting to the Sub-Adult intruder yesterday and continued defending along with Harriet & M15 who came when they heard E 15's intruder alert call (different than squee for food.) E15 can certainly defend herself and is a good stealer. Now that we saw the sub-adult intruder yesterday, glad not an Owl!

Empressangel- E15 warned a sub adult this afternoon too that came to perch above where E15 was perched. 😊

@@wskrsnwings Oh my...that Sub-Adult keeps flying or coming by as wants to steal E15's food but she won't let that happen! Harriet or M15 also would join in. Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks, Vicki for the awesome footage. Do you think with E15 hanging around this will force H & M to build another nest in a different location?
@wskrsnwings4 жыл бұрын
Drag'n Smoke, having E15 around will have nothing to do with what H & M do as far as rebuilding. I think H& M will rebuild the nest they have.

I've seen the adults rubbing their beaks on the trees - is this to just sharpen their beaks for dealing with prey & nest building or are they "marking their territory" with something (like cats do)? And thank you for the wonderful videos and your uplifting commentary - I'm admittedly a bit of a worrier but you make my day happier :-)!
@wskrsnwings4 жыл бұрын
Linda Clarke, they are rubbing (called feaking) their beaks to sharpen and clean their beaks. The outside surface of their beak is made of keratin, like our fingernails. The keratin layer is continuously replaced throughout the life of a bird & is continuously worn down by eating and manipulating hard objects. They are not marking their territory. Here is some more information about their beaks: The beak is an external anatomical structure of birds which, in addition to eating, is used for grooming, manipulating objects, killing prey, probing for food, courtship, and feeding their young. The depth of a beak is around one and a quarter inches. The length is approximately 3-4 inches.

Do you think E15 knows how to get food.? She cries a lot, seems a little lethargic? I'm worried about her
@dish87964 жыл бұрын
Me too! I worry how things are going to play out with E15 there so long.
@wskrsnwings4 жыл бұрын
Arline Levin, yes, I think E15 has been foraging on her own besides being supplemented by M15's deliveries. She is not crying, she is "begging" for food, something learned from the day of hatch to get food. She is not lethargic but very alert. Eagles normally perch quietly for hours. Flight takes up a very small percentage of their day.
@wskrsnwings4 жыл бұрын
@@dish8796 - nothing has happened so far. Worrying about "what will happen" takes the pleasure out of being able to watch and learn how a young juvenile chooses to survive at 6 months which we have never witnessed before.
