Hey! How can we tell the sex of the eaglets??

@@heathercmarie3 We can't know for sure but size differences (females are larger) and behaviors can give us clues. Some think as do I = E21 is female and E22 is male. This is not factual info., just opinions. E21 is larger, the tail feathers are longer and she has a line above each eye which is might be her supraorbital ridge. Both sexes have this, but in the females, it's usually larger. E22 may have some but they're covered now, by his feathers. That bony ridge protects their eyes, shielding their eyes from the sun and other things - like a visor does. It also helps give them that fierce look. 😊

WOW! This is WONDERFUL! To see each of them SO up close and personal is breathtaking. And The E's = my how they've VASTLY improved in their flying and negotiating, landing and take-offs. WOW!! What a powerful video of the look on the Rouge Eagles face! She knew she was busted and in definite trouble too. I absolutely loved the slo mo that you did with E21. What awesome and amazing wingspan she has and, when I was watching her fly, I was thinking that she has wings like her mother Harriett cause I don’t think M15 has the same wing design as Harriett did. I have seen individual pics of H&M and I’m definite that their wings are different. This is incredible! Your choice of music is brilliant and your ability to capture their grace and beauty is perfection. I first came across your videos after the hurricane and watched as M15 and Harriet rebuilt the nest. I was hooked. One of my favorites was a short that you did of Harriet and M15 mating. It was hilarious. We had no idea then what was to come in the months ahead. Now thinking back on this season, M15 missing his beloved Harriet yet determined to raise 2 eaglets by himself despite owl attacks and intruders stealing food, one even kicking E22 early on, and poor E22 getting bonked relentlessly… Watching your video… it is breathtakingly beautiful. I'm new to watching these Eagles. How long does it usually take before the babies leave?

@@TheTeacherUSC I think they may stay between 2-4 weeks longer. Depending on when they are ready to leave the area. This is not a normal season. Harriet, the mom, went missing early on. Leaving M15, dad to raise them by himself which is usually difficult. M15 being super dad did everything he could to feed and protect them. Then they both were forced to fledge early because the owls knocked them off while they perched high on a branch. We will have to wait and see what these little one do and when they decide to leave...

@De D Thank you for the info! I started watching after Harriet disappeared. I have seen M15 feed both of them and have been fascinated by these eagles. I didn't know there were live cameras for eagles. Living in California about two hours away from Big Bear, I saw what happened about one month ago. I figured it was better to ask people who know more about Eagles than myself. I really do appreciate the information. It will be sad to see them go, and I just hope the next month or so goes smoothly for both. The dad has been awesome. Really makes me appreciate nature. Thanks!

Wow, such a great video. I actually quickly saw that moment yesterday but I mistakenly thought it M15 and thought he decided to keep the fish and take off because one of Es was coming really hot. Your video is so amazing and ties it all together. I'm so happy to see how fierce these two are becoming. They had a very hard upbringing... it sucked but it will help them in their future. I was so worried shortly after them leaving the nest, but I think they'll be just fine. If only that owl would leave them alone, it would be great. Momm🦅 would be so proud! I am so IN LOVE with M-15! He is AMAZING! Oh my! He's GORGEOUS! He is so stunning. Oh my gosh! Here is something for everyone to consider. Had the eaglets lost their Dad instead of their Mom, they wouldn't have survived. Since Dad does ALL the hunting, these eaglets would have starved to death if it was M-15 who disappeared! Yes, I miss Harriett! But, the world has her offsprings! YAY for Daddy M-15! He needs to have personal protection for the rest of his life. The world owes M-15 a safe place! He's an amazing Eagle! OMG I love him so much! I think that M-15 needs to be banded. So he can be tracked and protected!

Totally agree. The male eagle is the provider and when he has eaglets in the nest that is his total focus. M15 has reminded us all this. I read on an eagle website that the male is more loyal to his eaglets than anything else when in his care. M15 is that and more. He deserves our respect.

P.s.: I was pretty convinced yesterday, when saw the female on the nest with the fish, that she stole the E's fish from M -who was enroute to the nest😠 She is not particularly close to my heart, unlike R23/3 who was a character and at least had a valid reason to steal food😔

This photography is amazing. I never realized how open this nest is. Intruders see everything and think they can get to steal a meal. Other nests may be more covered and hidden from above by leaves. Wonder if M will keep this nest. Also would like to see the eaglets catch their own pray and bring some back to Dad. E 9 did . Mom gave it back to him. So proud.

@ Doug Wilkinson That was not M15 landing in the nest with the fish, everyone knows what M15 looks like. The intruder is bigger , still has afew dark feathers scattered on head . This is the same Intruder that has been stealing M15's prey for weeks .

She took the fish from him at the north side of the pasture. I do not have enough editable footage. She ate the rest of the fish in the northeast tree and then drank water at the pond. You may be able to see her drinking water. E21 chased the intruder out for a second time. Thank you for watching the video!
