Which strategy worked for you to start swimming with less effort?

posterior (neutral) tilt your hips to get connection and rotate into the stroke - twothings that have enabled me to swim from 2km to 4km without much more effort

Very good start to new swimmers. The biggest thing I had to work on was anxiety in the water. It's a long process, but as Heather once said, keep at it. It's been 4 years but I am now middle of the pack swimmer in a race.

Nice video. I used to say that swimming has more similarities with playing one instrument than other sports. For two years ago I corrected my head position. So important. Now, no pain in neck and shoulders. Now I got pain in my elbows but my Naprapat who happens to be one swimmer says it will be better when I adapted. Start swimming in the right way with my arms also.

Great explanation! I have to say a word about the beautiful underwater filming! Stunning and compliments the descriptions. You guys rock 😊

"Effortless Swimming" -- I was like oh cool a collab with Brenton. Then I saw the dig at "high elbow" and realized it was a Brenton roast. Jokes aside, good tips, hope I can incorporate them, swimming's always the most difficult.

Talking of basics... I had to stop swimming free style since I have a ligament problem in my right shoulders and I feel a lot of pain with the specific rotation needed to swim... but I can still do breast stroke... Do you think I can become fastw enough to survive a non competitive triathlon with this style? Suggestions on how to maximize this change?

no....

Only you can answer that question based on your speed when doing breaststroke. You said "non-competitive". Is there a time limit?

Yes! I know people who have done a couple of full Ironman and 2 dozen 70.30 all in breaststroke. You’re not going for the podium, but you can finish

The head creates a natural wave trough at the side of the head, if the head is in the right position. One use that trough to breathe in. The more you splash and bring air down into the water, the less effective you are and the slower you swim - and it uses way more energy. If one looks at the 1500 m freestyle, at the Olympics, then you will see, that swimmers mainly use their legs for balance. Not to splash a lot. Only on the last 100 m, they use their legs more. This principle can be used by triathletes to save energy for the bike and run.

I've started reviewing how I was using my arms and shoulders in the reach and rotation portion of the stroke. I'm wanting to learn more about how much reach forward to engage my stroke and how much to drive my shoulder down or twist my upper body to start the stroke. Is it a "C" all of the above for the correct answer? #coachescorner

The problem is that I don't have a pool and the pool I do notation in doesn't allow more swimming after lessons are done 😢

Sign up for lessons at the YMCA and then swim afterwards. They don’t care how long you swim. I’d drop my membership at that other place.

#gtncoachescorner I noticed when I swim one hard workout 8x75 m acc and 20x50 max 10-15srest . Day after I run much easier. I feel much stronger in the run. So much that I tested this last week before one competition, Olympic distance. It worked, didn’t effect the swim, actually I was the first woman to T1 , and T2 I think it had effect on bike and the run. I lost one position in the run but that was very good to be me. Usually loose more in the run. What you think happens? Is it the VO2 which get better without impact on the legs?
