Finally found a video discussing this. I have been watching a ton of PGA highlights and every player's swing mechanic is the same for every club and the only difference is how they set up the club prior to swinging. I have been using my core to lift my club instead of my arms while my feet are planted and eyes are on the ball. Not only does it improve your swing by reducing points of failure, improving power, and accuracy, it has an added benefit of strengthening your core which leads to better posture and reduction of back pain. As someone who works from home and sits in a chair 60% of my day, it's super important to have a strong core. and 6:30 bless you.

Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 Seriously, I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you and validated what you have been doing. You are absolutely correct in that if we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper wrist and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. We are minimizing variables and building a ball striking machine, and the golfer will find that as trust builds in the shoulders will rotate freely and the "machine" will then be optimized. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. And thank you....😆 Tom Saguto, PGA PS: By the way, since this episode connected well with you, I am confident that you will also benefit from my newly updated FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

Hi again Tom, you when i mentioned i was playing really well after using your amazing videos you hinted that i might have been exaggerating. Last weekend I won closest to the hole (2') in only my second tournament ever. The assistant pro in my group said no one would beat my shot and none of the100 guys did. I was about 15' away on the other closest to the hole, but someone was already closer. Straight shots as a result of your methods are great! Ps..we used my drives on 3/4s of the holes too..every drive in play..that was my job. Great draw..thanks!

Thanks Tom. My only swing thought today at the range was weight on left side and it was unreal. First swing 9 iron carried 155 and it felt so crisp. The ball felt so soft off of the face. Driver was 280 carry and 300 rollout. I see buckets of extra crispy chicken with mashed potatoes in my future thanks to you.

awesome. another thing that really helps me is i visualize the club path through the ball and i know if my setup is good, im stacked well, shoulder down (get down on it), arms connected and my wrist conditions are set its always going to be a good shot. most times i just visualize the path and my body already reacts to it and i dont even need to think about it now, but at the range i just do everything i just said slowly. gonna add this drill into it as well. thanks tom.

Hi Tom, your videos are fantastic. I always look forward to new episodes. I am a member of sagutogolf on line school. I videoed my swing over the weekend. Quite frankly I have lost everything. I hope this drill you put up helps. My club is very steep, my left arm seems stuck to my body. I do not think I am pointing my left shoulder far enough to the ground. I also believe I am pulling my right elbow back trying to swing the club around my body, no straight left arm.

I hope this helps you get out of that funk! As you know, the school's curriculum is sequential - step by step, position by position - beginning with the setup. Many folks take that critical foundational phase for granted, and while I'm not suggesting that you have done so, it's always good to revisit periodically and especially when things seem a bit "off". Oftentimes we take deep dives into swing corrections that only lead us deeper into the abyss of frustration when the actual root cause was something simple that we did or didn't do before we even took the club back. Beyond that, know that I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. Here is a link where you can learn more about this option: saguto.golf/lessons Thanks, Tom

Tom, your instruction has greatly helped my game. But I do notice that with the longer clubs, I sometimes incorrectly and inadvertently push back with my lead leg creating a reverse pivot, and hitting the shot fat. Do you have any tips or videos on how to avoid that?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
What you are experiencing, Steve, can oftentimes be attributed to the hips not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the longer clubs as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel, thereby posing an increased risk of premature spinout. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing - and they should move targetward naturally if we allow them to - then their rotation takes over, thereby stalling the necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag, as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Glad you enjoyed it, Greg! There are no conflicts. It's simply that I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my KZbin content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Hi Tom, great video! My question is about getting the club face square, or closed. I purchased a Mevo Plus with the pro package and face impact. A great product, by the way. I'm getting pretty good with having an in to out swing path. What I'm not very good at yet is getting my club face square at impact. I think since I'm really putting emphasis on my swing path going out to the right, it's causing me to leave the club face open. My question is on the correct process to get the club face closed. Is that done with more wrist hinge at impact? I can achieve it by rolling my left wrist slightly, but of course that's not very consistent. Just wanted to know the correct way to do it.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
Nice work on the path, Terry, and I'm very glad to know that your Mevo+ is performing well for you! Ideally, we should simply "allow" the hand and wrist actions to happen without forcing anything. In other words, if we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. So, if your face is square at address but presenting itself open at impact, then something is occurring either in your setup (check your grip and make sure your ball position is not too far back) or during the motion such as rolling or fanning the face open in the takeaway that is causing this action. And while I certainly have videos that address this, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Beyond that - and the online school, of course - I do offer a swing video analysis service which enables me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable. I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! With regard to your question:, assuming the club strikes the turf after the ball and at the preestablished low point of our inclined swing circle - which is typically even with the lead shoulder/armpit area - then the tangent line of the circle at that point would be directed targetward. By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Hi again, need a little help here. In your lessons you suggest to let the swing start with the shoulders and the hips follow throuth naturally. However, looking at the slow motion with tha driver at around 10:20 it looks like you are, in contrast to what I quoted above, load and start the swing with the hips, letting the shoulders follow. What am I not getting here? Thanks for clarification!
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
It's not that you are not getting something here! When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player, put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while - and this is key - the head and thus the swing center remains in place.) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help in overcoming this, correctly engaging their hips and fixing their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. And while there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews I hope that provides sufficient clarification for you! I have a closed-stance drill for students who have overactive hips and are prone to a steep downswing path as demonstrated in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIawloh8ftmAhrc - and it is certainly something that you can take out to the course and play with (though you must take great care to ensure proper alignment when doing so). I personally play from a neutral stance with my feet, knees, hips, and shoulders set parallel to the target line. Yes, the key is to have an element of push back in the transition. One, little exercise that helps shape the arc is to just stand in an upright position; and, then cast the club out in front of you, with your left hand. Then just relax the hand and arm and allow the ligaments to extend and lower the club down to the ground. if you place your right hand on the club, take your address position; and, swing the club back, you will feel yourself swinging in to out.

Yes - that ulnar deviation is a setup feature we utilize in Stack and Tilt to promote a push draw ball flight and is thus supportive of an in to out path. Thanks for sharing that! Tom

Tom, I noticed the grips on your clubs seem larger than standard. What are your thoughts on the midsize grips or jumbo grips?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
Hi Brook, Actually, I went "supersize" and was was using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally liked the feel as well as how they helped to keep my hands quiet through the zone. Now, having said that, I purchased a new set of PXG's in the spring of 2023, and since they didn't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available stock grip, which was a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently. The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf. Ive been having a lot of success with keeping weight and pressure on my left side with wedges and short irons, but once i get to 5 iron im having a hard time getting much height on the ball. Still getting ball first contact, but they come out very low. Any auggestions with longer irons?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Ай бұрын
It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWHbpJaDrrNmrJo Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the longer clubs it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) They are not setting their weight forward correctly and as a result are tilting their spine towards the target. We should address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. 2) Their hips are not continuing their lateral targetward action through impact. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) during the downswing and through impact. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. 3) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. With the longer clubs it may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 4) As it relates to the driver, many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball". However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag, as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Tom, what is your take on Moe Norman’s swing? Thanks for all that you do!
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
While the Stack and Tilt system I teach shares a one plane feature, it is definitely different from the "single plane" version patterned after Mr. Norman's swing. For example, the straight-line relationship of the arms and club shaft from the DTL view is a trademark of Mr. Norman's setup that one will not typically find in S&T instruction. However, there are also some definite shared features - particularly with regard to the very centered, connected, weight-forward nature of both methods. Stack and Tilt is a complete golf swing system based on data from the best golf ball strikers - and Moe Norman would certainly be included among them. The S&T folks determined from this study of these ball striking legends that they all had 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistent crispy contact) 2. Have enough length to play the golf course well (power) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A player MUST be able to do those 3 things to be good at golf, and Mr. Norman certainly did! Tom

I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you, Benjamin!! My own personal "feels" are not relevant to you, because they are unique to me. 😎 Beyond that, they do change quite regularly as I'm always thinking about new possibilities for my lesson content. (Although as long as my setup is good and I've pre-established the necessary connections, I can trust that no matter my "trigger du jour", it's going to get me moving properly into the takeaway and backswing.) This is why I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason why the comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform of my online school is so effective, and as such I strongly recommend it to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my KZbin content. Yes Iv definitely learned from you.The thing that has improved my game alot is alinement and ball position.Iv moved the ball back to the middle of my stance with my irons unless I'm trying to hit the ball real high.its caused me to hit down and through and cause the low piont to be after the Ball.I like your videos alot.Iv also moved the driver back to inside the heal of my left foot.I stopped cutting the ball off the tee and have been able to turn it over.I can't argue with your methods of striking the irons because you do hit it pure.

As long as the ball is positioned behind the "zero point" of the swing circle - which is approximately even with the lead shoulder/armpit - then the club should be approaching from the inside. Only with a more forward ball position - which we would typically only deploy when playing some type of specialty shot - would the club "turn the corner" and strike the ball from the outside. While there is certainly content on my channel that addresses this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

In the slow motion swing u can really see how he leads everything with his hip movement. I really think THIS is the key to a good swing. And I just can’t do it. I’ve watched several of his videos on the hip bump (which he actually pointed me too) and still I just can’t sync my body to do it. 😔
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
As I may have conveyed previously, when properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. By the way, since you remain challenged by this have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing *_step-by-step, position-by-position_* from setup to finish. Additionally, you'll have access to all my short game content (putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play), advanced level material, diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. @SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, Doug; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWHbpJaDrrNmrJo Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) They are not setting their weight forward correctly and as a result are tilting their spine towards the target. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 4) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag, as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for sharing your ball striking improvement with the irons - keep up the great work and rock on!! Hi Chaunce, We grip the club with the face square to the target at the "zero point", which is even with the lead shoulder. We then set our hands in their stock position - even with the inside of the lead thigh, and simply place the clubface behind the ball without any manipulations. If the ball position is behind the hands - as it typically is - then this will result in the face naturally opening a slight amount without any twisting or turning of the hands, thereby setting us up for a powerful push-draw ball flight. Hope that makes sense! Tom

@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 ай бұрын
Fantastic!! I’m very glad to know that this lesson performed well for you, Alex; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and ridding yourself of that steep path and those resulting slices. The answer to those pushes lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot. So for a straight push the club face is open to the target and square to an in-to-out path at impact. This could be something as simple as the ball position being too far back at address, or there may be other factors involved that are causing the face to open such as a conscious or subconscious handsy manipulation, improper wrist action, a downswing path that has shallowed too much, and more. While there is certainly content on my channel that addresses the various causes, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks so much for your support in sharing your crispy ball striking improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom Saguto, PGA

Hi Tom, It looks like your in to out path is about 15 degrees. Q. My old fashioned understanding (from Jack Nichols etc) is that would give a 15 degree push to the right and would need a 15 degree CLOSED club face (closed to the swing path) to draw it back a similar amount (about 8deg actually). So all your shots should be heavy draws, but this does not seem to be the case. I realise newer convention reverses saying the face angle gives the initial ball direction, and swing path the spin, but the same overall ball path ensues. I assume your "square" clubface refers to the feet/target alignment, but that again must be equivalent to a 15 deg closed face to swing path situation. In short, why dont all of your shots result in fairly severe 15deg draws. Schaun
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Ай бұрын
Hi Schaun, We need to be acutely aware that camera angles can significantly skew perspectives with regard to ball position, alignment, and path. My path is not 15 degrees in to out unless I want it to be in order to hit a big sweeping draw. You can find some swing data in this recent video in which I used a launch monitor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpuydKuCjKZ-jZY And yes: Clubface relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. If this is a brand new feel that you have successfully deployed to overcome a previously steep downswing, then I wouldn't be so concerned about distance at this juncture. Typically, once this swing is running properly on autopilot golfers experience significant increases in length. wouldn’t you have to have the club face pretty open in order to not hit hooks all day

The face is open a degree or two to the target line at address. Consider that the zero-point of the swing is even with the lead shoulder/armpit from a face-on view. The face would be square to the target there, but since the ball position is behind that spot, without any contrived manipulations this causes the face to be ever so slightly open to the target line. This relationship - face open to the target and closed to the in-to-out downswing path - is how we achieve the stock push-draw ball flight of this swing system.

Are you actually complaining about free high quality instruction content, Jeffrey??? 😎 I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. Does anyone else feel like you’re tilting until you watch your swing and you’re not? I don’t know why I can’t learn this

Ghosts of swings past are stubborn and don't give up without a fight. Have you tried the "head against the wall" drill that I introduce and demonstrate beginning at around the 5:00 mark of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5LNan-iecR_o8U And while there is certainly plenty of other content on my channel that addresses the topic of Tilt, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

Personally, I can't think about tilting, and pointing shoulder(s) to the ground...I will start hitting fat immediately !! Also, if you're watching yourself on video, a lot of times we find ourselves getting stuck with positionitis. When I was taking lessons, they would always split screen me with a tour pro, and say I must be in such and such position to hit the ball correctly. I disagree with that concept. We all have different swings, and require different fixes. What I take from Stack and Tilt at the moment...is keeping my weight forward, and head still, and play around with ball position. Good luck.

What I did was to imagine. I take the backswing and at the top, I imagine a wagon wheel suddenly appears. It is right in front of me, floating about 10 inches over the ball and pointed slightly inside to out. The idea is to swing under the wagon wheel, without hitting it. Hit the ball, but don't touch the wagon wheel. It is a similar idea to your wall.
