The spring on the knife is so firm, that it has 'bitten' on several occasions while closing it. Still love it though.

Yeah, you have to be careful when closing.

Well, considering the tools, you are right, if you add the combo tool (bottle and can opener + screw driver) then you get the Bantam, but to me, the Bantam is a very different knife. Since the Bantam is an 84 mm model, it has a significantly thinner and shorter blade, and the 84 mm Alox scales are so much thinner... It's a much much lighter and thinner knife. The Bantam disappears in your pocket (or even in your wallet) even more than the Solo does, but it also feels very different in your hand when you are using it.

I think saying that it's "the standard blade that we all know" could kind of mislead some people. Of course it's the standard blade of the 93 mm Alox series, but that's a noticeably bigger blade (in every dimension, especially thickness) than the one that most people know from the 91 mm Cellidor models.

Wow I love it

The Bantam is a different size than the Alox 1. You are misleading your viewers. The Bantam is slightly smaller and considerably thinner. The Alox 1 has been in my pocket for over a year and has performed flawlessly. It is a big blade in a small knife, and will never let you down!!

Happy Monday GAS ( pun unintentional ) I am a lifelong SAK collector & user. The Solo AKA Swiss Army 1 is an elegant Gentleman's blade for a night out when you don't need a multi-tool in your pocket but so is its now discontinued brother the Swiss Army 2, also a one layer 93mm Alox SAK which adds the small but ultra sharp Hawkbill pruning blade & you wont notice any difference in the width or the weight or the snappiness of this other SAK. I own one of each & also the also now discontinued 2 layer Swiss Army 6 ( which has the main blade paired with the awl and the Hawkbill pruning blade paired with the screwdriver / cap lifter. All 3 are sturdy but slim & lightweight and have no key ring eyelet to snag your pocket. The Swiss Army 2 and 6 were discontinued in 2020 however they can still be found "new in box" in some shops & on Ebay at reasonable prices, so consider buying one or both of them whilst stocks last

Wish I hadn't read your comment now, I'm eyeing up those 2 (Swiss Army 2 & 6) and you saying they're discontinued makes me want to buy them even more...

@@simonh6371 Happy Sunday Simon, I bought my Swiss Army 2 & 6 in early 2021at reasonable prices, after learning that Victorinox had discontinued them ( they last appeared on the main Victorinox website in 2020 ) & there were still plenty of them in stock worldwide, including at my local Victorinox distributor who ran out of them by March 2021. Now they are fetching higher prices and ironically its Russian & Ukrainian Ebay stores that still seem to have them in stock but you cant buy from those sources because in the case of Russia you cant pay for them & they cant deliver them & in the case of Ukrainian Ebay shops, they have ceased functioning as have airmail postal deliveries. Good luck in sourcing the SW2 & SW6 at a reasonable price.

@@stevesinclair4159 Found the SW2 for just £23 here in the UK, and the SW6 is £45 from Victorinox.

@@simonh6371 Excellent news & both are UK legal carry slip joint knives with blades under 3". FYI I have an SW2 in my pocket right now as I write this, and mine BTW are fitted with the Nite Ize HipClip sold on Amazon, for convenient pocket carry. Its a stick on stainless steel clip with a 3M made sticky patch designed originally for attaching to smartphones or iPad like devices but I saw from a review by a purchaser on Amazon that he had stuck it on a 91mm Climber, so I bought 4 in early 2021 & after fitting one on a 91mm Camper & carrying it over a period of 3 months without it coming unstuck, I tried it on a SW2 & then a SW6 & both have been OK to pocket carry since mid-2021 ( the 4th one is stuck on a standard alox 93mm pioneer ) . You stick it on the rear scale near the tip with the clip facing in the direction of the blade when opened.
