Which watchmaker do you want to see on my channel?

Rexhep Rexhepi. Because not only does he have the coolest name in horology he has the best exterior angles this side of a Dufour. I don't remember you having him on.

I see big things for Julien Tixier, his work on this was incredible. He did not do anything the easy way. I will definitely be following his career to see what he does next. One thing I love about this watch is the way the case makes both sides look like the caseback, the way the 'bezel' surrounds the crystal, very reminiscent of the back of a Lange in its construction, but only in the way the case meets the crystal.

That's unbelievable how they cammed all those complications into a space that small. It's just beautiful.

Marvelous accomplishment. As a show piece. A concept watch the convention. I wouldn’t wear it. Maybe I missed it, but it’s not automatic wind? It’s key wound? I’d trade a few of the other complications for automatic easy to read.

Excellent effort on mechanism, but poor on finishing. The finish is part of the package. It’s some thing u have a fighter jet, but with no bombs.

Incredible watch, but loses a lot under big magnification. The finishing on that fancy escapement wheel and the screw under the balance is pretty poor. Dial engraving and the filling in of the engraving of the names also suggests quite a big lack of detail. Mechanically incredible, however.
@BabyJesus662 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the finishing is pretty poor. Not much better than some Chinese movements I've seen. But the technical work is amazing. They just need to work on the last 5% if they're gonna try to justify that price.

It's a insult to even say... the finishing isnt better than some Chinese movements? Really? That's brutal. Obviously you haven't done or explored watchmaking much have you. Yeah I see the rough areas your talking about . But this is a prototype. Which will have rough surfaces or unfinished surfaces. But point here is the small hidden features and the amount of complexity of the complications in this small case diameter. I love how much people can be hippacrital about something they cant even do there selfs. I get they are a certain demand of quality. For certain price ranges. But can you even comprehend how long it takes to make something like this by hand & machining? Most dont have a clue.

Where to get this watch?
@RobbieHatley Жыл бұрын
You don't "get" watches like that; you contact the makers and have them make one to order for you. It will cost you $376,000 so be sure you can afford that. I suggest writing a letter to Julien Tixier. (You'll have to find the address yourself. I'm not going to violate his privacy by typing it here. If you don't have the patience to do 20 seconds of googling, then you're not interested.)

From afar it looks a lot like one of those Chinese overcomplicated looking watches… Incredible piece from a technical stanpoint though!
@sopapillas63982 жыл бұрын
well those chinese watches were made to imitate high end watches so you could say that about all skeleton/openworked watches.
@RobbieHatley Жыл бұрын
It's certainly a beautiful design, yes. But the _price_ would certainly "kill" me. I'm afraid that the $250 Seiko currently on my wrist is about all I can afford. But I do enjoy watching videos about watches costing 1000 times that (such as the Hodinky Berkus "Black Hole", or the Grand Seiko "Kodo", or _this_ watch, to name a few).

I'm sorry, but for about US $375K, there should be no blemishes/scratches on the movement whatsoever. E.g. look at the 9 o'clock grove at 1:22, and its lack of color fill. And all of the lettering on the movement is clearly 3d laser engraved -- perhaps a finer resolution laser tool should be used? It's a really neat watch in concept, but the worksmanship needs... work.
