Hey Jeff. Hope this makes you smile and brightens your day a wee bit. 85 year old lady goes to the Doctor for yearly checkup. After the exam which indicated she was in very good health the Doctor ask " well every thing looks very good for a woman your age. Do you have any questions or concerns? The old woman replied "well just one question. Is it normal to have an orgasm every time you sneeze? " The Doctor, taken back a bit, says "No, that's quite unusual. Are you taking anything for it?" "Ragweed" she said.

Great info Jeff. This video is concise and to the point. It tells all the pertinent info regarding the turbo and what it'll do for Cats and other makes of diesels, well done man! I'm forwarding this off to several owner operators locally I know, that could use upgrades such as the switchblade offers. Just curious if you know offhand it it's available in Canuckistan yet? Thanks man we appreciate your content. Keep em rollin, old school fan from Alberta.... Jay

Hey Jeff, been following your videos on this turbo.... finally ordered one about a month ago after I watching this video & saw the lower price. The question I have is I noticed you’ve changed the compressor side of the turbo, was curious why. I believe you had the 78 mm & now you’ve got the 80. I’ve got the 2ws (70 pin ecm) 3406E with the marine cam (800) & 58 injectors. Thanks Bob

hello Bob did your switchblade work correctly.i put on my my 6nz and its not making any boost.i am bobtailing trucks feels worst than my stock unit.i will put a trailer behind me soon see if the unit pulls
@bulrack663 жыл бұрын
Hi Micheal, no my switchblade turbo did not work correctly, ended up exchanging it for another switchblade... this one works (I guess...) but I’m not impressed. The thing rattles under high boost and I don’t really notice any difference in performance and definitely no increase in fuel mileage... didn’t lose any just no increase. My conclusion is that they are (for the price) a huge waste of money.... wish I never would have bought the thing.

@@bulrack66 i guess of i can get a refund I will just take that turban side off put a regular hotside on it and get rig of that piece.not impressed could have bought a yellowjacket and be done not I have this thing not sure I should take it to the mountains and breakdown there
@bulrack663 жыл бұрын
On my turbo the rattle is just the arm (switchblade) that controls air flow on the exhaust side, don’t think there is anything wrong with it, it’s just annoying! If that’s the same in your case I don’t think you need to worry about breaking down because of it. But if you can I’d certainly try for a refund, these things are not worth twice the money of a properly spec’d turbo for you engine. Good luck

Hey Jeff: I recently bought a 2007 Pete with an NXS Accert 550, and I would love to try Jim's Switchblade turbo, but I am concerned about loss of engine brake power. I know you have a Brakesaver on old Kenny as well, but can you feel if the "Jake" is any less effective? I see you also removed the VVA's. Does that affect the Jake as well? Enjoy your videos, and the high production values. The time spent shows. Thanks from up here in Canada, eh!
@Jpaydirt5 жыл бұрын
I didn't delete the iva's As far as jaking power goes, the single makes 20 psi and the twins get up to 30? So it does affect it a little, but the fuel savings and cost savings when you have to replace two instead of one makes it worth it, the only reason Caterpillar has two turbos is to make the emissions system work , ACERT Plus your going to be replacing the bellows between turbochargers, or they'll be leaking along with a pre cooler and the twins cook your iva housing gasket and iva sensor along with pretty much everything thing else near them. Lol
@davidham16875 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. The sale price on the Blaylock turbo is a screaming deal as it is cheaper than an OEM replacement. Keep up the great site.

So this might be a stupid question but why doesn't anyone ever run a turbo blanket on a diesel?
@ppump24valve535 жыл бұрын
I wrapped my manifold and turbine housing on my 5.9 24 valve Cummins , and the turbo spools much faster, and I get lower exhaust temps by 100 * , and boosts sooner because the heat stays in and drives the turbine faster sooner, and it doesn’t expand, and I gained 1.5 mpg. Look up Power Driven Diesel KZbin channel. they did a dyno test with and without blankets, the spool-up was 2 seconds sooner. This is what sold me on them, plus it keeps your engine bay cooler, and cooler air going in means more horsepower.
@gman310882 жыл бұрын
not a stupid question. what a turbo blanket does on any turbo is take advantage of the hotter air moving faster. the faster the air the quicker the turbo response. once the air cools, it slows down. same reason you wrap manifolds and headers on a race car.
@scottmarshall67665 жыл бұрын
Still on the fence over these Switchblade setups huh? Seems these pay for themselves in oil changes pretty quick, not to mention improved performance, which is reason enough alone to swap one in. I didn't realize they were so reasonably priced. Seems like the work to install and tune is the only downside. The video you did on the mixture control re-calibration seemed quite a lot of work and involves some pricey CAT springs and widgets. Is it required on all installs? If it were simply a bolt on, seems they would be nearly mandatory for anything they fit.
@toddkratzer79535 жыл бұрын
3:20 that lower manifold isn't smaller than the new one, the holes, you can see it by eye on the video.

You speak very highly of the performance aspects of the S.T. but not the fuel economy. The ad speaks of better fuel mileage, what is your experience?
@clydeacor19115 жыл бұрын
He's talked about fuel mileage increases in other videos. I believe that he said that he gained at least 1 mile per gallon more if not more than that pulling that big D9 and scrapers.
@gullreefclub5 жыл бұрын
The fact that you don’t see tones of black (unburnt fuel) rolling out the stacks when he dragging a D9 behind him tells me that the Switchblade Turbo is more efficient and that cam only equate out to better economy and power, additionally when you see a truck rolling a lot of coal out its pipes means the oil is being fuel contaminated quicker and losing its lubricity which means you need to change your engine oil more often and that is money right out of your pocket. If I could ever get to where I could drive again there would be no doubt in my mind about running a these turbos on a truck I owned.
