Located in the files is background music that was planned to be used for the eShop on Nintendo Switch, with the filename "STRM_BGM_Shop.48.dspadpcm.wav"

​@@t4c037 Unfortunately, atleast from how I see it, modding a Switch has some downsides. Of course there are homebrew apps, themes and more but, for example, you can't play online. And it can be bricked easily.

@@ShortMiao you can play online as long as you don't do any dumb. You can use some mods online as long as it doesn't change the game. And with bricking you almost have to go out of your way to do that. Edit: also if you want to do stuff that would usually get you banned you can since you can make a EmuNAND to do stuff since it is cut off from Nintendo servers.

Reggie didn’t do as much as you think he did, he was mainly head of what was essentially Nintendo’s American marketing team. He didn’t have impact on stuff like this. And the switch was in its last stretch in development under iwata, before he sadly passed away, I miss him Alot but it was likely he approved this. And understandably so, the switch’s ram allocation for the OS is very low, any more load and it would’ve run even slower

@@user-zs8eg4mu8t not really. 4 gigs is the total system memory sure but 3.6 gigs or so are dedicated purely to games and can’t be used for the OS. The home menu’s graphical elements consume about 200 kilobytes, how Nintendo used to handle stuff back in the day was by unloading things completely out of memory and putting nearly all of it towards smth or dedicating so much towards the OS that barely anything was left for games. There really isn’t a way to do this without compromise trust me

Probably technical issues, it certainly consumes a bit more ram to put music on a mulitasking OS, all previous Nintendo OS were singletasking, sure it isn't a lot, but switch only has 4gb of ram and 3 out of 4 are used for gamesn purely, the rest its for the system, wii u had the same amount, but it was a singletasking OS and had very slow loading times, the mere fact they pulled something like switch os with that short amount of memory (as simple as it is) and not being a laggy mess its kind of impresive

yk, it sounds as end of an era. like era from music everywhere you go to more simplistic and slick design. so my theory is: It was planned as last eshop music to ever exist after switch, and on last moments they in nintendo thought "yk system already simplistic, so, maybe, music should also be gone" and removed it days before openning switch eshop and releasing console.

I checked TCRF for more information, apparently the path this track is in is Home/Wii/Menu & Shop BGM, so this is likely a holdover from the Wii, and not something intended for use on switch. Nice find though.

Didn’t the Wii U EShop, DSi Shop, and the Wii Shop Channel all use some sort of browser engine? All Nintendo really needs to do is get a better browser engine for the switch and optimize it. The switch browser is used in the Nintendo Switch Online app and parts of the settings, and in all points it’s laggy.
