You are correct!! Switchfoot has made it clear that they write these songs for everyone! However, every member of the band is a professing Christian and is open about where their songs come from... their faith. I respect them so much because they aren't pushing their beliefs and are allowing everyone to interpret the meaning themselves. I can enjoy a song about love even if they wrote it about god's love...they don't say that in the song and so i can say it's a song about how i love my kids, etc. :)

A long time ago, I heard music while lying in bed. Shofar music. Nothing anyone near me would ever play. At around 3 AM. It kept going for an hour as I laid there. And God said, "This is the sound of My love" (paraphrased). He basically told me that His love was the song I was hearing. I wonder if the singer knows what's up. When I heard this, it took me back to that moment!

That music noise from Shofar woke me from sleep in the middle of the night in 1999. Helped me get my husband to the doctor. I thought it was the return of Christ or even a siren of some kind but I know now that it was shofar and it was playing to get me up so I could help him.

Never realized this was a Christian song till one terrible day I was crying in the shower pouring my heart out pleading to god for some type of reassurance and this song came on my pandora and I felt the difference. Ever since that day when my days are just too much to handle I put this on and I get that feeling again. God is good and even though my life still isn't what I ever thought it would be he will always give me the comfort I need like right now !
