Thank you, really enjoyed this vid. Love the quote "unthinkable" hahaha At my local spot nearly everyone rides toeside but there was one wing foiler who made foot switches look easy, and fun. So I decided to learn it, it took months of crashes but now I'm very happy to ride heelside on both sides - it's easier to go faster, higher upwind angle, easier to get going in light wind, it's symmetrical for your body etc. I'm regular foot but lam earning how to ride waves goofy as I'd like to be as symmetrical as possible. Ok full disclosure yes I have windsurfing background (and surfing and kiting) hehehe. Cheers!

Nice thanks. Yes. Sorry for me the foot switch is done despite its advantages on up wind sailing. 🤙🏽

Few reasons to switch feet, however in the surf it isn't really necessary, some of these you mentioned sort of. - Racing - Long sessions (5hr+) - When getting up (at least for me) in light air

Thanks for watching and the comment. I an agree in racing if you can’t switch feet you won’t have a chance. 5hours plus on the water you must be bionic man..😳

Interesting video. My very first session not on foil I turned around and as a skater had no intention to ever switch feet. Didn't know you had to. A windsurfer went by me and said what are you doing you have to switch and thought he knows more than me so practised switching from first session. So hard but now I do it so much I can not ride toeside i hate it. Noticed most people do not switch now but it is so ingrained now I won't change and I don't even think of it switching is so easy and a fun skill anyway.

Thanks for watching and your input. That is very interesting what you say. I guess if you are sailing back and forth you can switch but my question to you is: Are your catching waves and let go of the wing? How is that for you? It took me quite a while to catch waves toe side but after one winter I finally had it down in the second one.

...as all life windsurfer and later wave kiter it's so much freedom not to switch my feet 🤓 an endless discussion, specially in Europe where everybody thinks switching feet is absolutely necessary 😊

I got problems with my front shoulder focussing on switch riding strategy and had to learn switching feed to balance forces in my upper body accordingly. Hard times ;)

#teamsurfstanceordie 🤘🤙 I’ve even gone so far as to place a second harness hook that sits on my left side of my harness for toe side riding on long upwind legs. You can even fly one handed with your shoulders more open.

thanx for sharing! but this has nothing to do with foot change, this is the wrong technique. that is why it is not working. it cannot work that way. take your time and break your habit of jumping: take a small board and put it on a big cushion in your living room. it take 30 min and after that you would not think anymore. so as someone (picasso?) said: learn the rules so that you can break them as a real artist. cheers!

In my opinion switching feet is paramount, as you rest you muscles 50-50 plus toeside all the time riding is actually not so good for your lower back spine.

Thanks for watching. I for sure was sore from toe siding in the beginning but now I am very comfortable. I think my spine is fine.
