Matt & Josh you both should be immensely proud of what you’ve accomplished. Out here getting ready for the upcoming F1 race, so I was able to stop by and see it live and in person. Video doesn’t do it justice. Attention to detail is 🥜. Bravo 👏 gentlemen. With that being said I am however royally pissed at Onyx. This whole build challenge has become a massive cluster F. Constant rule changes and behavior indicative of a major tv network. Let’s be honest here. This whole process kicked everyone’s ass and it shouldn’t have if managed properly.

I was working on a 65 Travelall that had been treated somewhat disrespectfully. Since it already had a rough and weathered look, I was going to patch all the cancer spots with sheet steel and call it good. No grinding, no filler, no paint. Clear coat maybe. I wound up selling it to a kid in the neighborhood who fell in love with it, before I could get that far. I guess my major role was pulling the thing out of the weeds and resuscitating it.😂

your injury from the pipe you ended up cutting off the back made me think of all the wonderful trailer hitches ive embedded into my shin walking between trucks at the body shop.🤣 just a idea since you cannot use body filler. you could get a tinted spray in bedliner. because its thick an some film build to it, it can hide minor dents. an do the rocker panels in it. if you get the color really close. you will hardly notice it because how the rockers face mainly faces the ground. doing the top side of the slider also with bed liner would give you some grip for when the slider is wet and muddy . an you have to step on it.

Re; body patches, use pannel bond and rivets roe the mad max look use pre painted metal with several colors to keepit interesting. eachrip or tear on your machine is a badge of honor!

If you put a door/window gasket around the inside of the fuel cell tie down it will keep water out from underneath.

Putting the pin in that receiver is gonna be a PITA, Why not cut a square hole in the bed, run some thin angle around the edges under the bed, put a hinge on the piece you cut out, to make a trap door for accessing the pin. Might even include a BleepinJeep Garage made slide lock on it too. I'm sure hoping that\s not a RCI fuel cell, unless they improved them. On one trip, we had four to fail a few years back. RCI (at least back then) made them of extremely thin metal, no inside support, and didn't use any filler rod when welding them. All the ones that failed, split on the welded seams. They did make them good, with either a bladder tank, or, what they called a double welded tank, which was same tank, just with filler rod used. Only one of the guys chose the double welded tank as a replacement, and it also split at a seam. What we come to the culprit being, fuel sloshing and it weakened the seams from the sloshing. It's a great size, I hope they improved them, because they were a great company to deal with!
