Can't say for sure what we'll be reviewing, we're taking one game at a time these days since if we ask for games we generally get overwhelmed. We have a decent relationship with THQ Nordic so de Blob may be on our plate in the future =)

Never played Gunbird even though I had a Dreamcast back in the day. BUT, that changed last week when I got the Psykio volume 2 physical cart. All 4 games are top notch, but Ive been spending the most time with Gunbird 2. Love the comical theme to it. Im going to work on a 1cc .

Was waiting for this one and was waiting for this review. Already bought it today but really enjoy your commentary on shmups. Now ZeroDiv just has to convince Capcom to let them release Cannon Spike on Switch. CAVE needs to get their act together and release their library too. Keep up the good work!

I'd be surprised if publishers haven't taken notice of how well shooters are doing on the Switch. A port shouldn't take too much effort as long as they get the right people to do it like Hamster and Zerodiv.

Oh yeah, it's hard alright the further you notch up the difficulty settings. But if I can complete this one without dying a single time (on the lowest difficulty) compared to still dying a dozen times with other Psikyo games, it's actually much more welcoming.

any issues with your TV yet? I used to do that with a cheap old Vizio and I think the angled lean against the wall caused part of the board on the right (top in TATE) to overheat due to improper ventialation and I got a bunch of vertical dead pixels that froze and varied in red/blue/green colors. It would also sporaticaly crash and make a very jarring loud noise before resetting.

You can actually map the L/SL and R/SR buttons in Gunbird 2! It can be very useful for bombs or the short range attacks. Currently the only Zerodiv Psikyo game to use the L and R buttons.

Update: Now all Psikyo games (except Gunbarich) have the ability to use the L/SL and R/SR buttons. Also, the publisher has changed from Zerodiv to City Connection according to recent updates.

Ah, that's often a flaw of my writing. Mention something I'll talk about later and the forget to do so haha. Anyways, one annoyance was that when you're fully powered up in the original, it's not permanent. Your top level power goes away after a while and you have to pick up another power up. In Gunbird 2, power ups are permanent.

THAT's what was happening to me? I thought I was colliding with enemies that I was somehow not seeing or noticing! I had no idea the power-ups were temporary. That sucks!

Gunbird 2 is currently not available for US eShop. I believe it was removed because the game is getting re rated I believe. It was originally rated E, now its getting a T rating according to Nintendo's website.

Another thing I forgot to mention in that in the Option Menu (pause screen), when you go to the Display Settings, there will be a Wall paper setting and you can set it to Simple, which will display a simple Black gradient wallpaper.

1. In the beginning of the first level of the game, great song, but ruined his solo instrument. My version of FBA for iPAD, Mibox & Dreamcast ver sounds nice. 2. I suspect that the scan lines cannot be added. I didn't buy that version because it made everything worse. P.s. No Morrigan, is exclusive to Dreamcast. It is a pity that Nintendo doesn't do that.

@@SwitchWatch You can't turn them off, no. You can choose how many lives you have and there are several difficulty options, but limiting the continues didn't occur to them, apparently. Score does reset but my value in that is limited when it's not an ongoing game. In this case, the target ought to be, reach the end. And I'm unclear how the 2nd Lap really plays into the motivation. From what I gather it's just the same again, except "this time" there are no continues. It reads like I need to put in the effort in order to play the version where effort actually has value.
