I had high expectations for the Alicization opening, but I didn't think it would surpass either "Thrill, Risk, Heartless" as my favorite SAO OP song or AWvsSAO's one as my favorite Opening. Color me surprised, when it surpassed both :D I can't stop singing this song! I even used it to create a mental opening version of my first fic's Alicization sequel from how many times I put it on repeat XP!

I am pretty certain they will keep this opening for the first half of the 4 cours. The OP is incredibly comprehensive in terms of what it has as you know and I imagine they'd only change very minor things, aka the "BEGINNING" will rotate to "RUNNING", "TURNING" and "RISING" and so on.

What do you think about the new outfits canon of Asuna, Lisbeth, Silica and Klein? Why is Kirito still using his avatar instead of edit, like the gameverse?

I love Asuna's GGO outfit. I like Klein's and Silica's outfits, but still prefer FB versions. I don't like Lisbeth's outfit, mainly due to the Beret and prefer FB version. As for Kirito, it's because he is still playing with his own account. If he wanted to customize the character, it would cost money. In Fatal Bullet, Kiriko avatar was created by Kikuoka as a completely separate account and in the Gameverse, his regular looks was on his main Avatar when he converted. That wasn't the case in main canon. His converted Avatar already had the Kiriko look.

The ending was definitely a cliffhanger for those who DID NOT read the light novels because it grips the viewers into believing whether the Black Swordsman has fallen once in for all or whether he may have a second chance in survival... (I think in one of the episodes in the Phantom Bullet arc, its not the first time we see Johnny Black in his real life appearance... "I think". After all looks can be deceiving...). I must watch it again to answer the questions and find out the truth! I also love that they introduced several new heroes and villains as well as a few familiar ones that will play a plot in the later point in the arc! Especially with the unique alliance with PoH and the new villain, Subtiliser. As well as a Fatal Bullet cameo of two familiar characters and the promo of the game... With the touching of the Dark Territory by Alice it was only like 1-2cm of the ground or barely a mm there and the GM classifies it as breaking the Taboo Index?! Ouch! There's one religion I got to despise due to the "rules" they have. Oh well...

Dont worry, Sword Art Online Explained became a weekly series of mine during Alternative GGO. It really caught up well with my audience and while I don't like giving myself too much credit, I believe it's making a huge work towards informing people properly on KZbin, where blatant hate or just clueless brakedowns rule the stage. I'm just really glad I can bring something substantial to the table. Episode 1 was a little delayed because it was the hour-long episode and I worked on the Opening Explained on the day of the episode. I plan on releasing future Alicization Explained videos on the same day as the episode airs.

I've spent part of the last 4 years fantasizing over how cool "your soul will be so sweet" would sound in the anime, so I seriously hope they don't skip that flashback. By the way, I've two suggestions that could help: 1) be careful when using possessive pronouns; I've heard some "her"s instead of "his"s and viceversa in this video. 2) tone it down a bit with the spoilers; I guess some animeonlys would've enjoyed more to find out later who the blond dude is (and, from the reactions I've seen, they would've also enjoyed to find out muuuuuch later that the dude next to him is PoH). Great video, as always!

Yeah, well... From the looks of it, the flashback has been skipped :/ Yeah, the pronouns tend to get mixed from time to time if I'm in a rush... It's a Turkish habit, we only have a single third person, as we don't separate gender and if I'm in a time crunch, I just prioritise "him". Didn't realize until I was editing the video half way, at which point, well... Half of the editing was complete, along with the script and sound recording was done... I hoped nobody would care and just let it stay there T.T As for PoH and Subti, the videos are called Explained for a reason. I still do limit myself as to what was shown in the anime and what was talked about in the Light Novels, so with that standards set, I had no reason to not mention Subti and as said, PoH's identity was made very clear by the anime itself with the face tattoo, forcing me to mention him by name. We actually contemplated a lot at Wikia, before the episode even aired, based on the Early Premiere, to decide if PoH was going to be considered a spoiler or not, since his name was not directly mentioned, but eventually decided that the tattoo clearly gave him away.

Don't mind the pronouns issue, we all ESLs make mistakes (and native speakers do too!). As for naming PoH, good to know you and some folks put some thought into it. So much dedication :D! Still, in my experience, I'd say that subtleties as the tattoo went largely unnoticed by animeonlys and others (I only recalled the tattoo when you mentioned it XD).

Alicization takes place weeks after the end of Season 2, even after the Ordinal Scale Movie. Have you watched the entire Episode 1? Kirito himself literally explains what that was all about.

Uhmm, you should probably watch a bit more... Because *Spoilers below* He did actually die. He was registered Dead on Arrival at the hospital and while the doctors were able to restart his heart, his brain was left without oxygen for too long and thus Kirito was deemed "Braindead" at that point.

What's your opinion about Kirito's defeat? He's got an umbrella. Against injector. And lose. WTF? He can just thrust him, or, you know, evade and strike him as hard as he can. But he lose... I still think is it a dumb scene and they can't do this more good, or they make it just because "Look! Kirito is slow IRL." Though after Ordinal Scale, most people think that he's strong in real life too. He won against "The one that broke Klein's arm, and kicked all the party ezpz". Damn... i want Eugeo solo story based game(or personal anime) now. Or that Alicization game have character system like in AWvsSAO, or few story modes like Warriors series. Or at least Eugeo-Alice-Kirito switching possibility. Also, are you going to compare some things to VN or you keep it till "The end of Alicization"?

I answered that question over on SAO Wikia Discord, so I'll just link the relevant bit: twitter.com/Takargo/status/1049221243050713089 If they do the Alicization game story structure, similar to the Novels, then chances are, in story segments, we'll get various gameplay perspectives that changes how we experience the story. One chapter we'll play as Kirito and experience from his perspective, one chapter we'll play as Eugeo and experience from his perspective, some segments will offer free choice, like the Episode 1, where the story does not have a character focus but rather a group focus. I am going to keep comparing things to the Light Novels but not the Web Novels. That's the intention of the Explained series. Provide as much information as possible, where the anime fails to mention key details, but not go into spoiler territory, so covering only the part of the Light Novel that was adapted.

Here comes "The Wall": Why Kanamoto fall too? Kirito strike him in LEG. But he falls like he got STRONG hit in the head. Or Kirito can make "Critical hits" IRL too?) Johnny can fall on his knees, or scream. But he just lost consciousness. Why? The fact that Kirito is weaker than him, don't change the fact, that Kirito have an UMBRELLA. He can thrust him in stomach, in throat or eye(brutal and gore, but still. "Life or death. Make your choice"), damn, he can thrust him in groin(even more brutal, maybe?). But Kirito make the DUMBEST thing that he can do. Remind you, that Kirito is a SWORDSMAN. Even though it's his VR speciality, the fact that you're a swordsman, mean that you know what to DO and what NOT to do. You have an umbrella, your enemy have an injector. You have long weapon that, in some ways, similar to rapier. Your weapon is longer. You have "The upper hand". Or, you can run away, if you scared of the fact that you can't win. Why Kirito is DUMB in this scene? You can thrust enemy in the weak spot(human body have A LOT of them), you can evade and strike, you can at least scream, or TELL your beloved one to RUN, WITHOUT pushing her THAT hard. What if Asuna fall and hit her head? Then no one can help you, if you've got hit. But you hit your opponent in the shinbone/tibia(not sure what word to use). Umbrella not pierce THROUGH the jeans or trosers AND skin. Or through naked skin. At least in this part of human body. You hit your foe not in the WEAK spot... You don't try to deflect his right arm with UMBRELLA, you don't to EVADE and THEN hit. "I just hit him in leg, even though it's not prevent him from strike me with injector". Stupid Kii-bou. What's the reason of PROTECT Asuna, if you DIE in the process? Kanamoto stronger than she/her(not sure what to word to use AGAIN). He can kill Asuna after he finish you off. If you think that "He's got only one injector. That means he can kill only one." You're wrong. He can CHOKE her, or KIDNAP and/or(what most of EVIL MANS want do with girls in SAO series) rape her.(Can name you at least 4 characters, 2 of them are MAIN antagonists in their arcs). Use her as "Lab rat" or "Guinea pig". Simply use in "experimental ways". It's one of, if not the most, DUMB thing that you can do. And am i need to remind you of "Ordinal Scale"? Kirito win against Eiji. And Eiji beat ALL Klein's group, including Klein. And break his arm. OS is not VR, it's AR. It's real life with some enviroment changes. Eiji was WAAAAAY stronger than Klein, Kirito and most of players, yet Kirito win against him. It's still REALITY, so your reaction still matters. And Eiji's reaction was BETTER, but Kirito somehow wins. Eiji was fighter(not VR one). He CAN fight hand-to-hand irl, and win. He was faster. But Kirito react MORE faster and won... So, what we have: Kirito wins agains "Master of martial arts", but lose to some "Scumbag"... seems logic, yes) It's one of the most dumb finals in ALL anime industry, if not THE MOST. I'm laughing very hard when i saw this moment. I still laugh(maybe even harder?) when i just think about this scene. That's the way to lose dramatic moment. Only two things left to make it "full comedic": "loss" sound from "Tom and Jerry" or "Loney Tunes", and some music from them. And then we get new "comedic moment, that dramatic for characters, but not for viewers". So, just to let you know, i try to make MY OWN version of ending. Not pretending to be THE BEST WRITER EVER, but still, i know what "dramatic" means. So, here's my version of 1st episode ending: Evening. Kirito and Asuna walk through the city. They stopped in front of road, waiting for green light to appear on traffic light. Camera fly around road, shows the crowd on the other side. There we see Kanamoto, he put the hood on(or in the hood). Red light change to yellow, cars are stop, people prepared to cross the road. Green light appear, Kirito and Asuna start to move. Kanamoto take the injector from his pocket. Suddenly, Kirito fall on the ground. Not breathing. Black screen with "To be continued" or "End of episode 1". Also they can walk TO or FROM hospital. And that explains WHY Kirito was/gonna be saved very fast. But it's just my opinion/thoughts about it. I can't take Kirito seriously in Animeverse now. So i gonna pretend that ANIME end not happens, and MY end is cannon(just to not laughing every time i remember the enging of first episode) Who am I to call this ending stupid? I just need to swallow the bait and wait till the next episode)))) Also, am i need to remind you that in GGO that injection kill human MOMENTALLY? It was lethal in GGO. And Kirito was survived this because of "Luck"(one of the most important things IRL). So Kirito have got lethal injection... But wait! What am I see now? It's "THE GREATEST PLOT ARMOR". Right, totally forgot about it. Okay))) I still love SAO... well, more or less. Good story, good characters(not all though), GREAT openings. Gameverse is AWESOME. Animeverse is good. Novels are good too, but more closer to gameverse, than animeverse. Gameverse>novels>animeverse. Also there's no doubt that yaoi fanfics and doujinshis gonna be everywhere in 2019 summer/autumn. It's SAO hype again. I wish that Alicization anime don't lose the most dramatic/important/memorable moments from novels. Also, there's no doubt in my mind that yaoi fanfics/doujinhis gonna blew up internet till the 2019 summer/autumn. Btw, what novel you're currently reading? Well, your answer should be the bit where "Kirito attempts assaulting the Integrity Knight" 🤔 Remember, Eugeo couldn't even take another step by just thinking about going against the Taboo Index, while Kirito was clearly able to grab his ax and launch himself towards Deusolbert, but was blocked by an invisible force, rather than the Red Eye Seal.

Well, now you jumped ahead way too far into the series, interpreting what is right or what is wrong :P Eugeo also thought what's being done was wrong, but was still blocked by the Taboo Index. To be more specific, in the Light Novels, Eugeo even had pain in his head, when he tried thinking about doing something against the injustice. Kirito had absolutely no issues attempting to go against the Taboo Index. Despite he had no memories of being an actual human in the real world, his Fluctlight was not bound by the Taboo Index in this instance.
