This may look ancient now, but when I was a young kid I would watch my best friend's older brothers play this game and Phantasy Star II. To us, these games looked so advanced and futuristic that they fascinated us; especially Phantasy Star II. It's hard to believe now, but it's true. Before the SNES, the Genesis was cutting edge. I guess you had to be there to fully grasp how awesome the Genesis was at that point. I'll always have fond memories of Sword of Vermilion because it reminds me of the early days of 16-bit video game wonder. What a time to be a gamer.
@shiningphantasy13932 жыл бұрын
You couldn't have stated it any better; for that first few months after the Genesis release almost every game that was produced felt like a new horizon in that moment. With the Genesis and also Turbografx simultaneously introducing us to next generation visuals, sound, and scope as you indicated it was a golden age.
@rjcupid2 жыл бұрын
@Shining Phantasy Thanks! You're exactly right too. The early days of the Genesis were magical. We viewed it as a space age machine. The awesome black Altered Beast box it came in and it's sleek design made it seem even cooler. The only other times I've felt so fascinated by technology were the early days of the internet and the first time I played a video game/deathmatch with friends over a modem. For me, nothing else today can compare.

I used to love watching my oldest brother play this when I was a kid. I hung onto all the old games, system, etc. and still have this with the original box. I'm very, very late to answer this, but it's the place where you find the Crimson Armour, a unique piece of equipment that heals you with every step you take on the overworld. If memory serves, you need to do the Dragon Shield quest but then IMMEDIATELY talk to the person in Stow after giving them the letter, before returning to the original quest giver. Great game, great graphics (for its time) and score. Loved this game, and it's the number one reason I haven't retired my Sega because I'd have no other way to play it.
