This is a nice technique. I’m used to having a heavy base coat that usually overpowers the base primer. I’m going to give this a shot.

Thanks! I try to mix things up a bit on here and show a few ways to do things - that way i hope it can be helpful to people out there that have may have varied time for the hobby or just try something different :)

Love the way you did the armour in that 1st style. I'm very curious to try that technique on my Uruk-Hai as well - it could really help add a warm and dirty tone to their armour in such a simple way.

Love both of them. Love you went with a purple scheme as most people i've seen go with the red. Though, the red with the copper look, instead of the normal silver you usually see is outstanding. The shield is aces, and I love using simple streaks to add wood grain to the weapons. I love learning little things like that. Thanks!
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Yeh just something a bit different, i figured that if people would like Red then the option is there also :) I try to think of time saving ideas or unusual ideas now and again - like the wood grain effect as it's nice to try and mix things up now and again haha :):)

I've got a big pile of orcs from Pelennor Fields and have Osgiliath coming. Between those orcs and the Gondor soldiers, I've been considering if it might not be faster to spray using a silver metallic primer (like leadbelcher) then shading the armor and filling in the other colored areas.
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Nice that will be lots to get through for you :) And yes that is a great option too, i did the Minas Tirith using Gun Metal as the primer to start with as they are like 90% metallic and for the Morannons you could do them with the metal spray and do a combination of washes over that to darken down their armour to make it look "evil" looking so it looks a bit different from the Minas Tirith "cleaner" look Have a browse of these to see if it may help and give you some ideas :):) Minas Tirith kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoGchoaYe7tkp9U Moria Goblin kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYDdpXVsebyZndU

black lines on spear prior to brown speed paint. Brilliant. Why didn't I think of that ?
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Well i thought as the speed paints can act like a slight translucent "filter" then it would show up black underneath so i tried it out :):)

Love your videos. I normally paint in the 3-layer "Dallimore" style which whilst enjoyable and detailed is very time-consuming. I'd been very hesitant about Contrast and Speedpaints prior to now but I think this video might have tipped me over the edge into buying some come payday. A little request, if I may - please could you consider doing a video on how to paint Goblin Town goblins quickly?
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much!! Do you have a favourite so far? I did something similar where for many years id say 90% of projects had to be - base, layer, wash, highlight and that was just how i learned to do things - but these days there are a lot of paints that do different things and its just fun to experiment and try out a new method. I honestly thought that the contrast/Speed paint thing would be a novelty for me and i would use it once in a blue moon - but i tend to use them on a lot of projects one way or another these days! Oh yes id love to do Goblin town, i've got some interesting ideas for them!! Im hoping to find the Starter box on Ebay one day as i would like to collect them :)

Any chance of doing a citadel paint equivalent? As I tend to paint with them. Thanks

Thanks for another great video, As someone who very new to painting, just a quick question about mediums. What is the difference between them, speedpaint, quickwash and normal medium and does it really matter which one you use??.
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Not a problem and happy to help where i can, i believe that the Speed Paint Medium (along with the Speedpaints) are resin based - so the properties are slightly different than that of the Quickshade medium you get in the range which is water based. The water based one will just make the Speedpaint run a it more - so you may as well just use clean diluted water to make them into a wash. As for the Warpaints Medium, i think that is resin based too - but im not sure how different that would be to the Speedpaint one as i don't think i have that medium. Im sure there must be something unique about it for them to make a differnt medium, but if you have it then give it a go to see what it does and let me know! :):)
@soupdragon62052 жыл бұрын
@@SwordsandBrushes Hi, thanks for the help, I use the speedpaint medium with my speedpaints, but I was told just to use Liquitex acrylic matt medium, as it is cheaper and just the same and so far I can't tell the difference, but as I said Very new to this.😀p.s. why did you go purple instead of a more traditional red and does it make a difference at a tournament, again thank you for your great videos and help.

Another method thats even faster is primed black, drybrush silver over whole model and thats the armour effectively done, get some nice dirty/ grungey looking armour super fast.

I believe that any stray orc out there that would like to be in my army, no matter what colour or creed are welcome - just as long as they like to paddle barges on the Anduin, rabble around in the streets of Osgiliath and then wage war on Gondor - i'm all for it! :):)

@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Steal away my friend!!! :) Im guessing the drybrush method on the metals may be in your future! Or you could do the spray Gun metal route and use the washes to your advantage - depends how long you would like to take on them - are you gaming with them?

Respectfully I am confused. I only saw 2 color schemes
@SwordsandBrushes2 жыл бұрын
Now worries, for these style videos i try to do a quick game ready miniature, the second is then focussing on methods to add extra elements/details to take them one step further and the final method is an alternative colour scheme that can be used :):)
