Tony DeRosa. He is actually singing the tenor here. He won BBS quartet gold with Keepsake, Platinum, Max Q and Main Street. Phenomenal singer. Can hold a chest Ab note forever.

Tony DeRosa is the guy in the striped shirt with his back to the camera. He sang in a group called Voctave, and in several barbershop quartets. The Voces 8 singer is the blond haired guy in the tux-- his name is Blake Morgan.

That sequence from 40 to 46 is amazing. I think Tony going from the 3rd to 5th and switching to a full voice on the 5th just puts it over the top. I don't hear any other tenors doing that with this tag on KZbin, but that little detail sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing this video.

As amazing as all these singers are, this is the most I've ever seen the baritone carry a tag tbh. Perfect volume relative to the group, great vowel match with everyone and an excellent lock with the bass, what more could you ask for?

@@onpointacappella9579 have a great partner-in-crime filling out baritone to create immense fundamentals! Globetrotting and locking 5ths with Kory Reid was amazing practice. Helps to have sung a full 2-hour-program beforehand, I reckon... lower parts of the vocal register always feel a bit thicker/bladey after a marathon of blasting high notes in tenor (or soprano, in Kory's case!)

There's all kinds of harmonics and subharmonics here :)))) awesome e.g.: - from 00:46 a subharmonic - octave below the bass (also at the final chord the subharmonic can be heard; a bit softer though) - at the final chord a harmonic : the 5th(as in high F) can be heard. etc

This is 'the whole piece'. It's called a tag - guys who sing barbershop harmony enjoy the ends of songs (where a lot of interesting harmonies are added, sort of like 'dessert') so much that special endings are written just for this purpose. That's what this is, a tag. There ain't no more. :D

This is called Barbershop music, it's an a cappella genre of music with close knit chords being the main staple in the composition.

Barbershop music is some of the best chordal music out there. If you want to hear fantastic quartets, I suggest looking up Vocal Spectrum, Crossroads and Platinum. For choruses check out Westminster Chorus, Ambassadors of Harmony and Vocal Majority. Once you go down the rabbit hole, you may never come out as you find more and more amazing barbershop music.

I think it would be nice to add a couple more voices in there. From 0:42 (you can have someone keep the same note as the 2 while the other guy drops to the half one and then sliding to one while the other guy moves to 6. And maybe a soprano to hit the half 1 octave higher and sliding to a 1 while the high note guys hits the 5 and sustains.
