Nice route. I do a version of this ride at least once a week. After Bronte you can also follow the beaches all the way to LaPa taking in Clovelly, Coogee, Maroubra and Malabar. Some more climbing along these more southern Eastern Beaches but a very popular route of the Eastern Suburbs cyclists.

Yea that extendo is a good workout and bang for your buck with elevation!

Good point about Centennial Park. If you're familiar with it, you might think "how boring", but in fact, most cyclists will always ride through it if they get the chance. It's an urban treasure and it's a shame that there aren't a dozen more quiet, safe, chill-out circuits scattered across Sydney.

Parks like centennial park provide such a huge benefit to the community. I really hope the golf course across the road gets made into a park too with the redevelopment

CP is my daily 25Km and I'm grateful for having it so close by. It's great on weekdays, but the weekends bring the crazies in, driving in the bike lane and trying to T-bone cyclists when exiting.

Used to do that ride every Tuesday morning. I went in the opposite direction starting off at Centennial Park gates opposite the TAFE heading straight up Darnley Road. Just one of the best city rides in the World. A good diet of hills

Great video, there are so many variations possible with this route which can tailor it to rider confidence or style. One such modification at Bronte is up Bronte road instead (going right after the park). You can skip the main road from up that hill which is the most frequented by cars. Cafe would be harder to get to that way though. I find the combination of hill + quasi-busy road pretty dissuading for a lot of bicyclists.

Agreed, even in this video I did a slightly different variant. Also around Vaucluse there’s some steep back streets if you want to get more elevation in. By and large I avoid this route if I can. But I know it’s popular with some clubs and also people who live close to the city.

A familiar route, even at 90+kg I love those punchy short climbs, just get out of the saddle and hit em 😮😅 Great vlog series 👍

Absolutely stunning.. I’m from bne and recently holidayed at Watsons bay.. did lots of runs around the perimeter of Vaucluse including heartbreak hill.. to be honest I didn’t miss my bike while I was there.. perfect for running, but wouldn’t be keen to ride in the traffic there. The best part was having a swim in the harbour straight after a run!!
@joshkwan2 күн бұрын
Yep! Running is quite popular there and you can really enjoy the beaches a bit more. The traffic defs picks up after 7:30am so I would only do this very early on a weekday. Thanks for watching :)

Talk about flash backs. Back when I were a sweet summer child I used to ride from Campbell Pde Bondi Beach, via Military Rd up to Vaucluse, down into Watsons Bay. Out of Watsons Bay along to Rose Bay. Then left out of New South Head Rd into O'Sullivan St alongside the golf course, across Old South Head Rd back to 6 Ways for the complete loop. What gets me is that this was done on a pseudo racer with nothing but a 5 speed cluster on the back and an iron frame. The bike was a present from the old man and I was delighted to have it. I did not know the route I took was supposed to be hard. I just thought I was slow compared to the dudes that whipped past me. On that bike now, I would beat me.

Hi Josh, I saw you wear power glass at work but sunglass while cycling. I never wear sunglasses in my life. Pls tell me where you got it from or how do I make one?
@joshkwan2 күн бұрын
I wear contact lens when I use cycling sunglasses. In this video I’m using Oakley sunglasses.
@shdevsh2 күн бұрын
@joshkwan thank you. That means no sun glasses for me.
@joshkwan2 күн бұрын
You can look into options like Alba Optics which place the glasses behind the sunglasses lens.

Not important but there are no battleships in the Australian navy or any other navy at this point. They are either frigates/destroyers/cruisers. ⚓️
