It's difficult to really comprehend what this young lady has just done. She has decimated her own world record, and how. Some day, some time, decades from now, someone's going to better this record. That's inevitable, and that's how records are written and re-written. But till that happens, Sydney McLaughlin will rule the world of women's 400 metre hurdles, just as Edwin Moses did in his time.

Weird to watch this while trying to pinch myself, thinking, "These are the three GREATEST 400m hurdlers in women's history, on the same dais, on the same day, in the same race--and they keep getting better, each one, race after race!"

The 3 greatest 4m hurdlers ?🤔. That would have to include Sally Gunnell (first to OG🎖️, WCH🎖️ , WR). Femke Bol is a great talent , but hasn't won any title yet ..

Sorry, but Femke does not belong in the conversation. Dalilah is a former Olympic Champion and Champion and WR holder; Sydney, of course, is the current three; Femke does not qualify.

She sure has her own way of enjoying, it doesn't involve laughing at all since her epic race. You can tell she wished others got more questions, looks rough to be a famous introvert in this world of social media pressure and dumbassery.

I think for the women, it might be the first time a great hurdler could potentially also be the best 400m runner or one of the best (Miller Uibo level at least)... Marie José Perec tried but just for half a season and with a horrible technique, yet some good results (53,21 PB). Often this event is left for the ones who are just ok over the flat and want to find "glory" somehow. Bol, Daliala and mostly Sydney are great flat runners and I hope this would influence other great flat runners to join the party. Same goes with the women 100m hurdles vs 100m.

FloJo vibes? You compare a 22yr old to a woman 10yrs older who was running times that were nothing special. Then for one year or so, suddenly became much faster and with much bigger physique. Who then died early.. You're comparing her to that person? No no no. Don't do that. FloJo gave me Marita Koch vibes. And still does.

Hate to be old and cynical, but I am. I believe 8 of the all-time top 10 men in the 100 m have tested positive. Is there a chance that the other two just didn’t get caught? All incredible times have a degree of suspicion. Still, they are all amazing athletes and I love watching track.

@@berg7417 Exactly. Although we will never know for sure there was a reason why she never raced the 100 and 200 again after the 1988 Olympics.. She was a very sweet and kind person however when i conversed with her in an elevator at the Embassy Suite hotel in Indianapolis during the 1988 trials as she was heading for her 200m final.
