When you said you can’t sleep on your shoulder that’s exactly when I knew that I had arthritis. It made me feel sad. I started physiotherapy. I really want to be physical again. I am 45 years old. I’m not so sure if that can happen, but I will do my best.

I think you have answered a lot of my questions. I will start PT and I bet that will help with the issues I’m having. This video helped me understand why you need to exercise my shoulder.

I thought I had rotator cup injury. It sounds like it might be shoulder arthritis instead.

How do you fix tendons flicking over bones?

If they would have told me it was osteoarthritis, I would have quit doing the activities that set it off. But they said it was bursitis. So I thought it would always go away. This last time it didn't. And the pain spread. I am in agony. And I'm afraid the joint replacement isn't going to fix it because it's been hurting for so long. It feels like someone is stabbing me, shooting pains down my arm and into my wrist and hand now. I wake up halfway through the night yelling when I have to move my arm, even when assisting with my other one. It's excruciating. Years ago I'd complain that it hurt when I laid on that shoulder. They said "bursitis". I think now it was arthritis all along. What happened in January was devastating. It reaches a point that there is no way to lay that it doesn't hurt. You can't lay on the other side either. You can't lay on your back w/o pain. You wake up half way through the night and can't get back to sleep due to pain. When I say it's severe - it's an understatement. You don't want to eat, you can't enjoy anything. And doctors don't have a clue how much pain you're experiencing. My PT does, but my doctors don't.

I'm only 35 and was diagnosed with arthritis in both shoulders. I believe due to boxing (hitting a heavy bag) 5-6 days a week at 60-75 minutes a time for 4 years straight. I still have great range of motion, but find myself waking up with numbness and pain down whichever arm I sleep on. My workout routine includes a lot of lifting now (quit boxing) so I am further strengthining, but just wondering how I can help with this morning pain?
