I just installed the equivalent kit to the from BAD Axe (recommended by Thuren since I am also installing their sway bar on my 2018 RAM 3500 SRW). Good video but I had one of these on my truck previously. Unfortunately the old one isnt compatible w/Thurens sway bar due to the bend on the brace bracket. Because I neglected to use anti-seize on the pitman nut, it was a nightmare getting it off to install the new one. So note to everyone putting these on their trucks, use anti-seize (see the 3:16 portion of this video) on the drop pitman nut and inside the bearing before you install it in case you ever need to remove it for any reason.

The locking collar for the bearing has an eccentric to it. You need to lock it a lot more that you did. AKA get a bigger punch and smack it harder several times. I know how to set bearings. I worked as a millwright in sawmills for 12 years. Also clean the set screw off with brakeleen and use red or blue loctite. To Tighten the set screw use an Allen wrench and tighten until the Allen wrench bends. That is the proper way.

I installed the same bar and knocked it several times but should I grease it right a way ?
@Thepriest393 жыл бұрын
@@traviscombs8234 I would give it a few shots of grease after installing it. They should be greased from the factory but I don’t trust that. Just don’t put so much grease in the bearing that you blow the seals.

The problem with this brace is the fact that the forces are strong enough to flex the chassis!! So all that play in the bolt holes where the sway bar mounts to move just like the chassis

Do u know if the Ram 2WD is the same as 4wd, when I look for one online it always says 4x4 but not 2wd

My 08 2500 4x4 hemi slightly kinda wonders the road. I replaced inner/outer tie rods upper/lower ball joints n shocks. Don't see any Pwr steering leak, smells or hard turing (was thinking gear box). Would this brace help? Or any ideas for me?

Could be bad sway bar bushings or end links

did you use a torque wrench at all or just He-man everything? great video I just order mine yesterday.
@flopster8437 жыл бұрын
I use a torque wrench on everything I can. I didn't have a socket big enough to get over the extension stud so I had to use a wrench on that one.

Can you use both this steering box stabilizer and a duel shock stabilizer.

Thnk you sir for your reply, i feel it did tighten things up better, if you haven't change your rrack bar yet, Carli track bar made a BIG difference in my steering control.

I just ordered a stabilizer. Put in new tires and new tie rod ends. Also got an alignment. Now the truck wants to walk over road imperfections. Gives a weird feeling. I hope this helps. Can the steering gear be tightened? What else can help with this boating feel ?

Check your sway bar mounts and bushings. You can usually see on the sway bar if it is moving by wear marks. Also check your ball joints and wheel bearings. Once you replace one thing it will just move to the next weakest link pretty much until you have replaced everything. It's a dodge trust me I know.
@maxpain71977 ай бұрын
Also check the pitman arm when you do this. If there is any kind of movement replace it now, because it's a pain later if you leave it and have to tear it all apart again later to get to it.

The big question is , What causes the wobble after the truck has a lot of miles on it. Looks like a well engineered part but it`s masking the bottom line issue.
@nickpegum11112 жыл бұрын
Sway bar bushings sway bar end links steering linkage if ball joints are bad a lot of things cause it
@b-17wingman372 жыл бұрын
@@nickpegum1111 Nope ! A lot of things do not cause it. I know exactly what it is but am not going to give answer.

The steering box brace does not stop death wobble, odds are it is your tires, ball joints, or track bar wearing out If you have the older Y steering that needs to go too.
@96_12v Жыл бұрын
@@b-17wingman37 you're very wrong, there is actually a lot of things that can cause it, also a series of worn parts together can cause it, bad track bar can,worn control arm bushing, bad ball joints, heck a bad wheel bearing can give a death wobble shake

@ScottDLR5 жыл бұрын
It did on my 2003. I could feel some movement when I have a heavy trailer with a tight WDH putting weight on the front axle. It was most evident coming down a mountain pass. Really made it rock stable. I also think it's a good idea just for stabilizing the sector shaft. It's bearings shold last forever since the shaft cant move latteraly.

Did this stop the death wobble
@flopster8435 жыл бұрын
I never had the death wobble. That's commonly caused by tires and enhanced by a sloppy front end. If you have it now, start by changing the tires.

Good video but a huge thumbs down 👎 for the product. I decided to do it at home instead of the shop because it looked easy enough and wouldn’t require shop tools. I get to the part where I’m bolting the bearing on only to discover that the bolt holes were not drilled in the carrier post casting. Upon further examination, the bearing wasn’t pressed into the carrier all the way leaving it crooked. I ended up removing and putting back to stock configuration to drive into the shop 45 minutes away on my day off. Not a happy camper

only problem is you bought a shitty one.
@amandadavis9726 Жыл бұрын
What’s the “polished” one then? Just asking, because my truck wonders all over the road. I can wobble the steering wheel back and forth, and nothing happens except the pitman arm barely starts the process of “turning” the wheels.
