2013 Mercedes GL450 AMSOIL Engine Flush Oil Change

The 2013 Mercedes GL450 4Matic is a very simple oil because you do not have to jack it up. The oil capacity is 9 qt however when you use the flush and let the engine drain for a long time the car can take more oil like 9.7 qts of AMSOIL European CLASSIC 100% Synthetic motor oil 5W-40 is the viscosity type.
The AMSOIL Engine Flush is great because it removes the carbon deposits inside the turbo and tight passages like turbo screens and can free the timing chain area from carbon sludge and also help your compression by cleaning the piston rings. That AMSOIL Engine Flush will also help clean the inside of the turbo screen which can get oil coking that can damage the turbo over time of building up.

Oh yeah all the cars have shakes and rattles especially as they get older lots of plastics especially belly pans all of them crack and when they crack they get play and they just get sloppier as they age unless you go through everything and replace it. Even window regulators in the doors get rattling in the doors as you close them everything flexes and gets loose inside the actual door

Sweet, love these Amsoil videos. I always enjoy them, wix makes good filters too. I sometimes use the wix-XP oil filters, like Amsoil and royal purple oil filters, they have the synthetic filtering media with a wire backing so the media doesn’t collapse. So far, Amsoil fluids are all I trust. The top 3 oil filter brands I trust is Amsoil, Wix and Royal Purple oil filters.

Yeah I think it's a fair deal I wouldn't say it's anything great. The biggest consideration is fuel mileage. As long as you're okay having a very big vehicle that you're not really using but you just have it for safety when you're okay paying for the extra fuel mileage I would say go for it

Hey I have a question I own a 2008 mercedes c300 manual transmision I'm having a small grind on 5th but only afer a while ones the car is warm I already did a transmission flush with the oem fluids and it didn't help it much. Would u recommend me using amsoil?

I would definitely use amsoil if you're going to keep the car however if you are going to spend the money to get a rebuilt transmission I wouldn't waste your money I would get the transmission first and then put the amsoil in. Of course you can.. If you're going to get the leak fixed soon I would do an engine flush. If you're not going to be getting the leak fixed I wouldn't do the flush because the link could flow a little quicker. basically it's going to clean everything and if the crack underneath the sludge is really big it could leak a little quicker... Downside.. That slap is unfortunately terminal.. Also power Benz actual oil service is by evac not drain, though some dealers do drain anyway. Food for thought from a prior service tech

Getting wet is a must. You got to make sure wet and lubricated so that piston enters smooth like butter. Remember there's going to be a lot of slide in slide out from that piston so that cave needs to be wet.

I love the GL too but it's a shame it's known for so much reliability issues. Even this one is ticking at startup, I hope for the owner the timing chain isn't going out. Otherwise Mercedes-Benz V8s are butter smooth and make an American V8 sound. These are delightful engines.

Yeah I heard that about the timing chain too! So important to make sure you run the high quality oil that has a 100% synthetic film strength separating the plastic in the metal

@@Syntheticoilprotection Of course, but between 2005 and 2015, all 3 German manufacturers used weak springs and plastic tensioners, which break inside the engine. Worst offenders were Mercedes M272 and M273 engines (the latter likely being what this GL has), BMW N62 and N63, Audi 4.2s and early 4.0s. In this case they are just sentenced to death, unless of course you catch it and have the chain replaced on time, but it costs a fortune... Fortunately they all corrected the problem with the newer engines. But you are right about the fact most brands, even luxury brands, use full synthetic only if you specify it to the service, otherwise they put a synthetic blend in. Each and every dealer should use synthetic today because of how complex are today's engines, even those in economy cars.

Of course that's because the engine flush was in the crankcase that thins out the oil and basically takes the film off and when you heard it start it had no film that's why it was making that noise. After doing the engine flush there was none of that after you started the second time. I have no idea what that could be but I do know that is common when you change the oil filter on a Mercedes because the oil has to circulate the first second and a half when you start it. Do you know what that sound is?

It comes from a loose chain due to a weak chain tensioner. There have been several issues on the m278 engine related to this component, also the variable cam adjusters can cause this problem.

Yeah it seems as though other people have been mentioning something about a timing chain tensioner and that it's made out of plastic and there's a fix that's made out of metal that will fix that problem. I personally have no experience with this model so I do not know but I heard other people mention it so I'm guessing that's what the problem is. The Mercedes forms would probably be the best place to get feedback 😉☕💯

Na...plastic on metal chain does not make that kind of noise I think that sounded like metal on metal and lasted longer after the oil change so maybe when u drain engine oil old lifter are not retaining oil so after it take lil bit longer to reach the lifters not a mechanic just lotta common sense!!!
