KevinHM Agreed, but after he learns it his own way it might be interesting to purchase the tab book for The Stage and see how it's actually played. Sometimes it can just help inform the way you play it and maybe make you better. There are a lot of little nuances in the guitar work throughout the whole album.

Hey Syn. So I bought your Synyster Custom s with stataniac. And invaders. Then they have anouther model from shector with your signature pickups and no sastanic on it. My question is do u even play with the newer guitar. That doesn't have sastanic. I'm try to get as close to your sound as possible. I have pre order for axe fx 3. But unfortunately can't find your amp cab combo anywhere. And am having a hard time dialing in your tone.
@bradgore70566 жыл бұрын
As much as the Axe Fx 3 cost it should have his presets included lol
@music2boot2475 жыл бұрын
You left your comment a while ago but I wanted to drop a response, being someone that studied Syn a long time and still enjoys playing their solos from time to time. I recommend you check out A7X's new "break it down" series on their official YT channel. They play the multitracks and talk about how some of this stuff was recorded. Syn... a lot of players, they think all he ever plays is his custom Schecter guitar and buy it trying to copy him. Syn, he records TONS of guitar tracks on their stuff, things you don't even notice (but your brain does...). Throughout almost the entire song "The Stage" for example, there is a crunchy guitar that plays along with the heavy stuff, during the verses and riffs. You'd never notice it, but it's there, and it adds to the harmony of the guitar parts and makes the production quality of the songs beefier. And guess what? Syn plays this not on his Schecter, but on a 58' Fender Telecaster. Watch Rick Beato's interview with Syn as well... Syn got a room full of guitars and he plays a lot of Fenders. Whatever is the right tool for the sound and tone. For the heavier solos, he plays both with and without sustainiac pickups. He's definitely NOT using it all the time, not does he record everything on his Schecter. The Schecter is constantly flashed in front of your face so he and Schecter can make sales of his signature guitar. Look at some of the stuff from City of Evil, I think he was still playing Ibanez's back then! Another point to make is that, the final product you hear, goes through mix/mastering experts like Andy Wallace. These guys take MONTHS tweaking the tone on every multitrack of a recording to make it sound flawless. Things are also often double or even triple tracked (including guitars...). They put all this EQ, compression, state-of-the-art reverbs/delays (like Lexicon) on them. I think my final word for you... find your own tone and sound. Syn is a master because he doesn't copycat other people, but experiments to create his own sound and his own tone. He doesn't do things one way, he plays multiple instruments, with multiple types of amps, settings, FX racks, he's far beyond just using Axe FX. And there are people outside, or even above him, that produce and mix his tracks to make them sound good for a lifetime.

MUSIC2BOOT Do you know much on the theory behind his playing by any chance ? And just stuff he likes to do
@music2boot2475 жыл бұрын
@@isaacmoss3728 Honestly no... well, my theory is getting pretty damn strong, especially on piano I can write beautiful solo pieces now and read music on piano. Guitar on the other hand, different story, lol. Guitar, I am getting pretty good at writing melodies and basic riffs. But the stuff of Synyster Gates level... I can play (most) of it, but the theory behind it is totally over my head (I always been more the engineer than the theory guy on guitar)! I mean, he does very very advanced stuff. Syn incorporates gypsy jazz elements into his solos, and I mean, that is the cream of the crop in terms of advance music theory. I got a video for you... look up Rick Beato's youtube channel. Literally like a day or two, he did an episode on Avenged Sevenfold breaking down one of their songs, and he had Synyster Gates there in the flesh talking about some of the music theory in his solo writing, actually playing pieces, explaining it, and how ends little sections of his solos on dominants, 7ths, etc. Rick Beato is a great guy for learning advanced stuff on guitar, and he is personal friends with Synyster Gates.He has a few videos with him now where he talks about music theory. Syn is a goddamn music theory god on guitar and so is his father. They both write really complex stuff.

Why on the Stage album was everything so quiet? I play one song from it, have to turn my volume all the way up to hear it well, then a song from one of your previous albums plays... and destroys my speakers. I don’t get it...
@Shad0w-5706 жыл бұрын
Drew Parker It all depends on the mixing/frequencies/etc. If you have iTunes (on a computer), you can increase the volume by highlighting a song, right clicking and selecting “Get Info.” I think the tab is “Options” where you can change the volume, add an EQ, etc. I have done this for all of my songs. You gotta listen to them loud, brother. ;)
@SuicidalTwinkie6 жыл бұрын
+Caleb Huntoon Another method to make the volume changes less jarring, is going to iTunes settings and enabling Sound Check (If you're on Windows, Click on Edit > Preferences, then go to Playback and enable Sound Check).
@KeaHM6 жыл бұрын
This album has low volume by default, maybe that's because it's mixed specially for vinyl, but when you take out the vocals, guitars or drums, you're ripping off part of the mixing so it sounds louder
@Danterobo6 жыл бұрын
The album surpassed the loudness war(Google it). Which makes it great.
@dpark5516 жыл бұрын
I eat Ass I get that they were trying to make the album dynamic and not over compress anything, but for me personally, that ruined the album. I think there’s a sweet spot for rock/metal between an album that is too compressed and loud (i.e. Death Magnatic by Metallica foe example) and this newest album from A7X. This album is the most quiet in my whole music collection, which isn’t a good thing imo. Hopefully they fix it in the future.
