As a designer, photographer, and future architect - this is why I went with Syrp for My motion control needs. Precision is necessary for both, Timelapse photography and architectural design. This is totally evident here. I’m such a huge fan of this brand, and happy to be the owner of Syrp’s latest Genie II Linear and Genie Mini II. Thank you for inspiring me to push my creative boundaries in BOTH, photography and architectural design. Can’t wait to keep up with everything you all are creating - products and content!

Hats off, I know first hand the amount work that goes into this kind of thing so well done and good luck with the studio guys. We built something similar a long time back for a studio and used fibreglass over a exercise ball for the connecting bottom corner, worked a treat with a bit of car body filler and a orbital sander. Used the same radius for the cove. 👍👌👏

So awesome! Always inspirational to see builds like this because I've wanted one ever since we got serious about photography. Definitely going in the next house 👊 Too bad about sacrificing the skateboarding aspect of it. Thanks guys, class stuff. Is it difficult to keep the painted floor clean during model shoots and, if so, how do you clean it after? I shoot on paper or sometimes Perspex, both of which get dirty easily. I’m hoping this approach is easier to keep clean?
@SyrpLab2 жыл бұрын
Sorry we didn't get back to you David! We usually do a repaint before big shoots as unfortunately the surface always gets a bit scuffed up and dirty - this is pretty common for commercial studios.

Gonna try this! Just wondering if you found all the wood to be quite echo-y, and if you've found a solution?
@SyrpLab4 жыл бұрын
Yes - the shape and hard surfaces definitely caused some initial issues but we've done a sound treatment by making some large acoustic panels from sound insulation. When placed correctly, these remove almost all echo
@SyrpLab4 жыл бұрын
The echo is a huge problem with cycs! We ended up making ten 1.2 x 2.4m acoustic absorbers which removed the echo completely. You can see some attached to the roof at 6:12.

What did you use for your floor and how did you ensure a smooth transition from the curve to the ground? Did you paint the cement or did you use some other flooring material?
@SyrpLab4 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad! With the two sheets of MDF, there was a pretty small gap between the cement floor and curve. We filled this with Bog/Builders fill (the name varies from country to country) and sanded it smooth. As we had a pretty perfect cement floor with no rough areas, joins or visible cracks, we painted this directly.

Thanks for sharing this! Really cool to see the process. I'd be interested to know the square footage of the space you used?
@SyrpLab4 жыл бұрын
Hey Karl! The finished studio from wall to wall is 5.5m x 10m (18ft x 32.8ft) but obviously you lose about 0.5m around the perimeter due to the curve. Glad you enjoyed the video
