I would really watch out with that lift. A few friends and i have been pooling our weight and equipment together and training at home during the lockdowns. We were doing squats for a while where we basically held the bar in that very way because at the time we neither had a rack to get the weight safely onto our backs nor were we enough guys to be able to spot each other when going heavier, so we opted for a "safer" solution where we could just drop the weight if we needed to bail. - What we experienced from that "grip" was that the moment we went above 180 lbs or so the repeated pressure against the big nerve right under the brachialis(mostly anterior part obviously) actually caused nerve damage in some of us, it lasted for quite a few weeks in some of us too. Needles to say we quickly found other ways to do it. It seems like it might be fairly anatomy dependent whether it's causing issues or not tho, one of us is still doing it like that sometimes because he's never experienced any hint of a problem at all, others of us seemed to get knocked out almost after the first lift with tingling and radiant pain down the hand and weak grip strength on other lifts as a result. I might add that we aren't weak guys, we lift significantly heavier that 180 when we go heavy, så experiencing issues on such relatively "light" weight was a thing that kinda set off alarm bells in regard to the potential risk.
@emperorraygun3 жыл бұрын
615 is my guess. I love Zerchers, but I use an axle bar - the thicker bar is a little easier on the arms.

I like Zercher squats and deadlifts. Though I can't handle nearly the weight as you two beasts. I feel them a lot in my quads and upper back. They helped me to keep squatting relatively heavy weight during the gym shutdowns when all I had access to was a 2in diameter fencepost with sandbags strapped to it.
@miskee113 жыл бұрын
Deficit trap bar deadlifts could help Juji. They're basically all about that leg drive! It's a little unspecific, but I found it really helped me out after I tweaked my back due to not using my legs in the deadlift at all.

Hello, physics student and person who lifts here, I imagine that a stiff bar would be easier for zercher deadlifts as the whip in a deadlift bar is going to throw off your stability and bracing same as it would in a squat. However I imagine being strong as fuck is going to make the biggest difference so you’re chillin

Here's the thing about stiff verse deadlift bar... I'd say go with stiff bar, because it will hurt less. Because with these weights as the DL bar bends, it will tend towards the outside of your elbow, and have two points of contact. The stiff bar will be more evenly distributed in the crook of the elbows, and I think that will be an advantage overall. Same concept applies to setting it on the knees. I also think that the as the DL bar bends off the knees, it will want to counteract pushing them out, making the squat less powerful. Get up off the knees as soon as possible.
