I have just watched the video of Tom doing the 23 squats. I don't want to take away anything from Tom Platz but he had a squat suit on and that gives massive support. It will definitely add extra reps.

You’re going to want to bulk up and get thick, now. That’ll get you to the 15 mark and once you start surpassing 15 and getting an upwards of 20, start going low weight low reps, which is what I’m going to do, you’ll start with like 365 for 5 and go up to 405, 425, etc. Get at least 8hrs of sleep and bulk up a good amount. Eat your burgers. Steak. Hot dogs. Milk. Rice. Cookies. Yk the drill

I have an Ironman magazine from February 1995 that had a Tom Platz feature and interview. While rereading last week ...... Ironman What was the heaviest weight you used on the squat during your intermediate stage of your training? Tom Platz: Let me think back now because it's been a long time. I would say back than my best would've been around 500 pounds for a double or a triple. Later I was able to do much more---615 for as many as 15 reps.

gotta think of it as it only 7 more reps and if you trained specifically for high reps it always plays a benefit for this. i remember doing 8 sets of 20 on squats for a few months my legs got big and i got way faster at the reps too. the fact that you smashed out 16 reps when not really preparing for this just shows how strong you are as tom platz trained high reps and crazy shit all the time.
@dansmith97242 жыл бұрын
I heard Tom Platz when training legs heavy, hard and high volume, that it would take 2-4 weeks before he'd ever train legs again. Easy to see why.

You're much stronger than I am but I sometimes do crazy shit like this (I do the 315 for 20 reps thing at least once a year since 2019 but I'm also 90is KGs/200lbs). Here's my tip to make it without passing out or feeling so terrible after doing a heavy but high-rep squat set: Force yourself to breath heavily and rapidly during the whole lift. It will look stupid but it prevents the tunnel vision and inability to get your breath after the set.
@ricepattyfatty252 жыл бұрын
