I wish you the best in your recovery. 3 months ago I tore my left triceps off the elbow and had it surgically repaired. The day after the tear I was doing belt squats and unilateral rows and presses. The day after surgery I was doing belt squats and unilateral upper body. I never missed a workout. My left arm now measures 13 and my right 16.5. I put an inch of muscle on each quad. I'm just starting to regain function of the triceps. Train carefully, and never give up.

@Brachwah3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason it is recommended to continue training your non-injured side, is because once you get back into doing compound movements that involve both arms, you will be able to use overall more weight since you still have one strong arm, thus increasing the gains on your weaker arm. I could be totally wrong though. This is just bro science logic.
@koleary17983 жыл бұрын
Also, when your uninjured side is back is recovered and able to be trained in my experience its best to use unilateral movements. This allows you to go at the pace of the weaker side. For instance, dumbell rows. Start with the weak arm. However many reps that side can do you match with the strong side. In theory, as the weak side gets more high quality reps close to failure and the strong side is likely just getting maintenance work the muscle imbalances will resolve themselves quite quickly. Also, there's something to be said for not going balls out systemically to allow for sufficient recovery resources on that weak side. I'll steal your caveat of this is also likely bro science. Worked for me though. And remember, all exercise science was once bro science until it was proven.
@thorthewolf88013 жыл бұрын
I saw some studies where uniliteral work developed the other muscle as well
