T4-T5 parapeligic using public toilet with easy access pants

I'm a T4-T5 parapeligic. I taught myself how to use a public restroom. I modified all my pant to have 2 invisible zippers in them so I can more easily catheterize without removing my pant. I also use a transfer board sometimes when i'm feeling weak or the toilet isn't working for me. I will make another video later. You can buy the pants on Etsy.com AccessibleWorld

Im amazed at your ability to do what you do. I never realized how poorly constructed some handicap bathrooms were until I broke my left ankle and severely sprained my other one. Even after my sprained foot was out of my boot I still had non weight baring on my other foot. Getting in and out of a handicap bathroom in a wheelchair or even my scooter is a nightmare. And some of those bathrooms won't even accomadate a wheelchair. It's given me a whole new look on the handicapped world. BTW, please don't use those air dryers anymore. They suck up the air from the floor and onto your hands.

I'm also a T4-T6 and I never sit forward, only normally. I like the idea, but I also don't have a zipper and normally take off my pants and underwear. Everything takes me the same amount of time as you do.

This just a mere suggestion , I think you should try using disposable male catheters like a 14 inch or 16 french and empty to a cup , water bottle or a urinal while sitting in your chair and just put some paper towels underneath to catch any drips . Male catheters are much longer and easier to handle and perhaps saves you the hassle of transferring on a dirty public toilet. Again it just a suggestion I could be wrong about this.

Yeah I have freinds that do that. I can't get to my urethra while sitting in the chair no matter how I have tried and I have crazy leg spams that also make this method difficult. Thanks for the idea.

If your wheel chair had a built in porta-pot, you could pull out the reservoir underneath and dump it..All you'll need to do is lower your pants to go and never leave your chair... They have built in flappers to keep oders in and chlorinated tablets. It will take some mechanical work, but should be doable? God Bless You !

I'm C4/5 incomplete. I use the speedicath but prefer the long caths. I also have an ileostomy but would like a Kock pouch because I keep getting hernias! I'm 6 years in. I can walk a little so people just don't understand that I'm an incomplete tet. When I explain, then just stand there catching flies.

Great video. I should do one for men...seriously. It always amazes me how ill-equipped most "handicapped" toilets are. No garbage cans, no sinks, and, recently, a toilet paper dispenser that gave you 2 sheets at a time. Really?? As if we don't have it tough enough. Anyway, I just purchased hand controls for my car but haven't been able figure out how to get the wheelchair in and out of my Camry. Perhaps I'm using the wrong wheelchair?

Should just take an old water bottle or pop bottle so you can avoid the toilet in all. Its what iused to do before i got the sp catheter.

this is impossible if you are T4-T5 then your torso and hands would most likely suffer from some (at least) paralysis which this person clearly doesn't have...

I am a T4-5 and fused between T3-T8. Please refer to this diagram that shows which vertebrae affects what muscle. If I were a C4-5 then you would be correct. goo.gl/images/jg6cVA

A typical accessible toilet - poorly designed at minimum code and used by ambulant persons without care for disabled users. Typically used as baby changing facility
