Alternative scene: Taash carries her mother's body and tries to make it out with rook. Taash gets caught in an explosion on the way out causing her mother's body to shield her from the blast. Mother's body is thrown away from Taash. Rook drags the weakened Taash out of the ruins while she tries to reach out for her mother as her body gets burried under the rubble.

As someone who's been a gamer since '07 and saw myself tons of video game characters, both good and bad, I can confidently say that she is the worst video game character ever created. I let out a sigh of relief when I found out you can actually kill her off near the end of the game. Granted, the deaths are lame, but hey. If it gets the job done, it gets the job done.

What was a shame is that the concept of her story actually fit right in, with the Quanari culture that Dragon Age built over multiple games. It's a culture very strict on gender roles. She wasn't raised in the culture, and also was abnormally built for a woman, became a warrior, completely different from any other Qunari woman, and made her confused about who she really was. It was a really interesting idea. But then the progressive fetuses clearly writing the script had to go totally off the rails into this odd, heavy handed, preachy bullshit that was so out of place in the game world. They all of a sudden started speaking like pretentious white progressives at a campus symposium, and not like any of the cultures in the game. We didn't need the term 'nonbinary' or multiple preachy moments about pronouns to understand what the character was about. Just let her have her journey of self-discovery and leave at that for shit sake. Then when they had that scene at the end with the pushups, to remind us all that far left progressives can take any simple concept and pervert it into 400 level college Calculus, so you will never understand it, so they have an excuse to be perpetually offended.

Hey, the quest about Shathann and overall story of self-discovery around Tash is not new and it is indeed relatable. But i do agree the idle dialogues and the infamous dinner scene making it all about their identity just breaks immersion for me man. Queer people have existed along the Dragon Age games, I'm not surprised that non-binary people do as well. But the terms do not. Dropping it in there ruins the whole medieval vibes. It sounds too modern, even the way they talk. Feels like they made this whole thing for an audience bracket or early to late teens only :/
