There are people who act like Taash is the sole reason this game gets the hatred it does: "Of course people hate it, it's inclusive!" From what I have been able to gather from watching numerous videos, Taash is the _least_ of this game's problems, or damn near. Also, "Let's just ignore 20+ years of BioWare's LGBT representation in their games because that doesn't support our narrative of gamer bigotry." Sales of BioWare's games and gamer demographics proves that gamers _largely_ don't care about inclusion. It's not about inclusion; it's about how it's handled.

That background Elder Scrolls music kills me every time. 😂😂😂 I really hate this new style of writing in games where they try to be hip and quirky and witty with every little snippet. Some defenders claim this is how real people talk, but it always feels the opposite. Like it actually comes full circle and feels jarring BECAUSE you can tell they are trying to make it seem casual and "realistic". Like I truly believe people are capable of writing good and natural, and yes even silly/witty, dialogue, but this ain't it dawg.
@Liniya.Ай бұрын
I feel like what you're describing is largely a kind of 'default American' writing style, like no one can say a simple thing in plain text, they have to be all stand-up comedy or otherwise 'smart ass' about it somehow all the time. Very bizarre, very apparent in dubs/translation too where in the original you just have like 2 people talking normally most of the time

@TruthWillFreeYouАй бұрын
Not in Dragon Age. The accent is tied to where you are from in this series. There have always been American accents in DA. It's the dialogue being spoken, not the accents that is the problem. It was written by a far-left ideologue. It sounds really bad because it’s written by someone who is not very intelligent. Dwarves and Qunari have always had the American accent. The Fereldens are British, the Orlesians are French, and the Antivans are Spanish.

I remember in Dragon Age Origins, Wynne and Alistair had a playful but kind mother-son relationship. Wynne even remarked on Alistair's dirty soak and cleaned it for him. Eventually, Wynne got comfortable enough to talk to Alistair about her son and having to give him up because she was in the Circle of Magi and hoping he grew up to be like him. It showed growth between the characters that they were more willing to share sensitive things about their past but also there were characters unwilling to look past the others actions. Compared that to this and it's almost an execution of a franchise.

Legs are the first thing I notice about EVERYONE." Taash: "...OK, then, what's the SECOND thing you notice?" Harding: **stammers, trying to think of a rebuttal before giving up and sighing** ... Fair point. There, now there are two ways to interpret the scene: A) Harding shows genuine concern for Taash, who takes the opportunity to tease her about the height difference between them. Handing is forced to accept the joke based on a technical truth: that to look up at someone from behind, she would have to see their posterior as she points her gaze upwards. B) Harding really WAS looking at Taash's legs/backside and tries to deflect with a self-deprecating joke about her stature. Taash turns Harding's logic against her, forcing her to more-or-less admit she was being a pervert.
