Archery Glove vs archery tab. This is a mostly pointless argument but we had fun with it!

I always shot gloves till (Someone) sent me a free Tab with my order. I can't seem to find anything different with the performance. I like the way the glove looks and feels. However the Tab is quite simple and there is an elegance in that. I recomend purchasing both and then determine which one you like. One more thing bever fur string silencers "This is the Way".

I switched to not wearing one for a while for hunting purposes. Then my fingertips were seriously numb for weeks so I stopped 😂. Now I use a glove, but want to get back into a tab.

A glove that fits well is my preference, but with a tab you don't have to worry about fit. Tabs are also a little bit better for measuring when string walking.

I like TABS, I've learned how to make then. Mine are split figure type and I have 6-7 of them. I feel I could make one on the spot if needed out of scrap leather or denim. I can't make gloves and can not afford them. End of my story... Thank You Shatterproof, for the hours of good information and fun filled discussions. Ron from Mt,Vernon, Washington

As a newbie to archery I chuckled to the "even if you aren't an archer you know what to do with it (the glove). When you see a tab you got no clue, it looks like a coaster." At training they only have tabs for us to borrow and I have had to show people on how to use them several times because to them its just a weird looking piece of leather. I had the same problem when I first used a tab.

I started on a glove and shot split finger, wow did the string torque my index finger. I swapped to tab and three under after being reluctant to doing the popular option. Now I shoot way more consistently and comfier

I live in a very hot and humid environment, gloves I find too hot and sweaty here so tab it is for me...I used to live and hunt in a colder climate and was happy using a glove hunting with traditional gear but always shot competition with a tab... just use what works best for you..

I current am shooting a glove, but used a tab for years, until I lost it moving. I recently purchased a tab, but it's not deep enough and my middle finger sticks about 3/8" past the end f the tab, which is no good... sorry finger and all. I did determine that they are within about 3fps of each other, which I had always wondered.

I was watching this video when something just popped into my head. What if you took a three finger tab and cut off the top finger? That way, you could put most of the pull on the two middle fingers, and use the index finger just to lightly hold the nock in place. This should not only counter the problem of arrow flop, but I bet the release would be a lot cleaner as well. I'm going to 'operate' on one of my old tabs and try it out. If you guys want to give it a try too, we could compare our results.

Id say you look at any barebow competition and see what all the top place finishers use.
@diynreviewguy8992
@diynreviewguy8992 2 жыл бұрын
Also, some things to consider when looking at "any" professional sportsman/recommended equipment, is that those top place finishers? Most likely shoot differently than your average shooter. I wouldn't necessarily go with what is popular among them. They get all kinds of paid sponsorships,free equipment, etc...I know some bow shooters who prefer other brands/equipment personally, but use/publicly promote what their sponsor gave them..... Why not try out the several methods until you find what you like best, and train like a madman with it... Then, take your least preferred method, then train like a madman with it as well 🤷

@@diynreviewguy8992 Sponsor's want to see people winning with their gear thats what encourages people to buy their gear. They are not putting tabs in the hands of archers to sell more tabs. Archers are using tabs cause they score more consistently. Thus why you rarely see gloves beat tabs in multiple rounds of competition .

I think Jeremy and Cass should BOTH shoot with a tab, AND with a glove... 3-5 shots each, with each device. Compare accuracy, speed, and grouping. I know NOTHING about archery, just getting into it after several years of not shooting a metallic blue Hoyt Rebel XT 🤣😂. Ordering a black Hunter longbow soon, from your video content, haha. Have a wonderful day gentlemen!

I couldn’t trim a tab decently, so I went to a glove. Didn’t like how the leather would sometimes roll on my fingers & feel awkward. So now I shoot with neither, just my fingers, can’t lose!!!

@@fulcrum789 I shoot a 50#@28” Hoyt Satori. My draw is 29”, so what is that, maybe 52-53#? It took a couple weeks, but yes, my fingers are pretty calloused up now. It would be nice if someone made a skin tight, soft leather glove that had no seams on the tips where you would anchor, just smooth and pulled over the fingernails & then put the seam on top of the finger. That would be dope!!

5.11 manufactures gloves like that they also have the best pants you will ever wear just make sure you can afford them. Also Mechanix gloves make a .0.5mm high dexterity product. The down side is they wear out. That is why I Use the tabs and archery gloves. Plus it supports Shatterproof. The world needs more people like them.

Cass Ammons with the glove. I like Glove but in the almost strings to the wrist design and due to how small my hands are when shooting that have to have the extra adjustability on the string length with the holes for the U part as few brands make a glove. Some sellers on Amazon sell a highly adjustable glove that is mostly synthetic but has a leather oval where the fingers sit on string and most come with a synthetic Arm guard but can find them separate, though not at the time I bought my set as trying to find a kids model does. I can also with that design take the fingers off but still have a glove attached at the wrist. None of the over palm designs unless I am using tighter fit but not too tight leather gardening gloves in winter/weather cold enough due to how hands then always get sweaty in a bad way, and you can't take the fingers off so if climbing or other uses they sit just fine. As a kid since I found out I was a left eye dominate shooter in 2001, I wanted tabs but until 2007 or so when I was stopping archery, they did not make a left hand easy to find and only had cheap fake leather duel sided so I was using a glove as I am left eye dominate right handed shooting, I am used to shooting this way with a glove. Also 3 under tab was not super common until 2005 or so for barebow target where they made rectangle tabs I could have custom cut to my desired shape for a splint finger. I am Split finger as this was most common way to shoot until 2005--2007 for target stuff, even open target shooting.

I shot with a glove for many years. But my release is better and cleaner with a tab. The only problem I have with the tab is nocking. As avery traditional English Longbow archer I prefer blind nocking. That's hard for me with a tab.

The fact that the tab can be replaced with a scrap of leather might prove it being convenient, but not a great selling point. Why buy it when you can just grab a scrap?

I for myself enjoy gloves far more, easy to use, your hand is free to use for what ever you want... The way I shoot, tabs just do not work for me. I pull the string just with the very tips of my fingers and it feels like the string could slip away by chance evry second. Buuuut... for stringwalking, i would also use a tab! By the way, I love the design of the gloves! If there where no shipping costs to Germany... 😥
