tachometer install: how to install on the Nissan micra k11 coilpack

Thanks for the guide, this worked on my 2002 1.4 Micra - for anyone struggling, find a friend with an oscilloscope, you need to be looking for a square waveform which runs at around 4 volts d.c. We got misled by the Haynes manual diagram, which doesn’t specify the tach feed. But on this particular loom, tap into the following: Red - red tacho wire, for 12 volts d.c supply Red/white - white tacho wire, for backlight with dash lights Blue/ black - green tacho wire, for square wave rpm signal from Ecu And black from the tacho to earth /ground

Tbh I’m not sure if I will do more, this was a little lockdown project, I have down other bits but they aren’t video worthy really, but I think the car will be going soon to fund my next car for oval racing at lydden hill next year hopefully. But it could be staying though, Currently adapting some spacers to fit some be wheels so may be a new video but not sure. Thanks for the support though

Yeh I understand that and would be cool but my parents aren’t a fan of having a shitbox on the drive, let alone make I clapped out. I’m only 15 so yeh it does drain it quick but my amazing stepdad has helped me all the way with It

!!!!FOR ANYONE WANTING TO INSTALL ONE ON A COILPACK ENGINE BUT DONT HAVE THE BLUE/BLACK WIRE ON THE CLUSTER !!!! ----- I installed mine by running a wire through the car into the engine bay and splice into one of the coils (CYLINDER 2 WORK BEST) THEN FOLLOW THE VIDEO AS EXPLAINED FOR POWER + AND EARTH - ... THE SWITCH IS OPTIONAL AS YOU CAN GET A DIMMABLE TACHO LIKE I DID REMOVING THE NEED FOR THE SWITCH .. HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE WHO CANT FIND THE BLUE/BLACK WIRE

I followed this guide for my 1999 1.0 Dizzy and got everything working, light switch and power to rev counter, I just can’t find RPM signal on any of the wires. I asked the question on a FB group, the response was to tap into red/yellow wire off distributor connector.

Hello mate..im just curious.i has had a ecosport with coil pack aswell..i want to install a extra tachometer on my car.should i connect the green wire of tach to the wire of original tach of the car?i woried that maybe they going to show some warning on my dash board...pls help..thanks

@@Autoshieldcars mate from what i heard is you connect the green wire from tach to green and black wire from cluster wire..but its show on the video theres only one wire attach to the green and that is blue...everytime i try to tap my green wire to each one of wire from my cluster..there is only to wire that my tach has a source which they read incorrect like the white wire with stripe..the needle of the tach goes to the higher number and stay the light ..and the other one is brown wire with stripe which the reading is the needle is jumping all the time like craczy..but look i found that the 2 wire that has a reaction to the tach when i tao the wire has another wire that seperate with electrical tape ..and the other wire has the same..in all of my wire on my cluster..they have coupke of wire with partner..maybe i need to connect my green wire to both of the..i need to find which one..the white wirh stripe or the brown wirh stripe..thanks

I don’t know the mate. This video is designed specifically for coil pack k11’s as I don’t know for dizzy or the other micras so don’t want to say a wrong thing

For me, it was easier just to swap the dash with one which has tacho.....10 min job, and no need to hassle with wires. Plug and play.

I’m not sure. But you could just take the cluster out and look if you have the green wire, same as this one?

@@leoncalton9330 well the needle was good enough. It revved up more or less In syncs with the car. I sold it nearly a year ago now so can’t say much more than that unfortunately
