In their latest vlog, Matt and Tank embark on an exciting adventure to the Grand Union Canal, Tring in pursuit of a rare catch - a canal carp, a species they have never caught from a canal before. To add a unique twist to their fishing expedition, the boys decide to dress up as Peaky Blinders characters, hoping that the iconic attire will bring them luck in their quest.
Tune in to witness whether their unconventional approach leads to success or if they'll need more than just stylish attire to hook their elusive target.

I was born in wilstone had my first 20lb over 20yrs ago from wilstone. You'll hear many below saying it was the eastern Europeans taking all the carp but the truth is the weed and algae blooms is what killed most of them off. I have many pictures of multiple groups of double figure dead carp and silver fish during hot summers over the last 10 years. It really was once epic but 5 years ago I walked from marsworth to Aylesbury at night in winter when it was gin clear with a spotlight and saw 5 fish during the while walk, 3 carp of double figures 1 pike and a skimmer. Was devastated.

This one reminds me of dad when we were practising with farnborough for the 2006 junior national on the Basingstoke canal! We caught roach and skimmers on squat over groundbait, he caught 3 double figure carp on pellet and corn 😂

I live there and watched the carp decline at a hell of a rate for the last 5 years. Used to feed them floaters out the side hatch everyday. Lucky to see one or two now. Otters are about around there and regularly bang down the side of the boat at around 2am. It’s fucked now.
@gf845

Also to add we used to get really pissed off with any televised fishing on this stretch. Our boats are not a feature to fish to and be reminded two of the the three marinas are no fishing zones. I’m pleased this was televised though as it will show people that there really are hardly any carp left so they won’t bother coming here.

Bream machine! Great film, good fun I enjoyed it thank you. Just curious why line info has changed, I'm now 50 and haven't fished for decades (birding took over - binos/scope out the door - simples) what the heck is 0.20 etc I used to fish 4lb mainline to 2lb hook length for example, not into this diameter guff. Also didn't look like you turned up at 4am i.e. carp o'clock. Btw The Gudgeon Specimen Group looks like a prestigious and noble organization, fantastic, keeping angling alive, if I do take up the sport again I will be targeting the magical 2 ouncer.

Love the video but have to disagree with your comment about being able to fish anytime you like on a canal. You can't! Most stretches of our canals are leased by clubs and fishing is restricted or day tickets have to be bought from shops etc. some distance away when open. Have just subscribed and rang the bell.
