so it just occurred to me that large groups of pirates should probably have a separated Caterpillar Command module or 2 with them and they could just steal whole loads at once by attaching to someone else's lost cargo modules after making them detach

Ship looks extremely awesome, but there are two things that I definitely would change about the interior: 1) Seal off the catwalks in the cargo modules. That way you'd have a redundant and safe passage through the entire ship in case of a hull breach in one of the cargo pods or if they're unloaded in space. 2) Redesign the crew accomondation in the main hull itself. The ships has a maximum crew of 5, but we've seen eight beds which means the beds are supposed to be redundant. Therefore, it would be a better idea (imho) to give each crew member a basic bed in the command module and a tiny but fully fleshed out cabin in the main ship (since there already are a few rooms that serve no obvious purpose, that would help a lot with the immersion). From a more realistic POV, this would positively affect both the health and endurance of the crew on a longer trip, boosting the ship's overal versability.

The emergency supplies are pressure/air suits. This is because the size/design and nature of the caterpillar requires oxygen and pressurisation that is a major weakness in combat. If the hull of the primary section (the only area with the safety equipment) was breached ; any crew not in EVA equipment would die in under a minute of asphyxiation. This however would not be instantaneous and could be prevented by getting to emergency equipment when the shields fail. We saw cig working on the depressurisation of ships (especially on the caterpillar ) in ATV/Ship Shape which is what has led me to this conclusion. Sorry I do not have links to sources . Every door (4 starboard, 4 port, 1 front) will drop all the way down to ground level as a loading ramp, so you'll have as many points of entry as you can shake a stick at.

It looks great, but you're right that most of the tech looks current. Not just the screens, cabling, materials and construction. Even the ship's engines look like CAT marine diesel V8s.

Currently the flashlight is bugged and instead of being on the side of the helmet, it's inside your head. This isn't what I expected when I was told to find "the inner light".

you should walk through the ship instead of run. I use legacy controls and it's the caps lock key makes you walk. Not sure what it is for the new controls...great vid tho! I was in the US Navy on an aircraft carrier...and the Cat looks just like it on the inside. That plastic in the walls is actually called lagging, and it acts as fireproofing on ships. In the Navy we would paint that white. But man, really true to life on the inside...lets just hope the Cutlass redo gets the same love.

Hey Tactical Advance ,love the videos man and keep up the good work. I noticed two things that you missed in your video. If you looked at the doors before you went through them you would have noticed that they said what each room was, so the "viewing room" opposite the command room was actually the tractor beam room. The other thing i noticed was that you missed 8 buttons while on the walkway through the cargo areas. The buttons allowed you to open and close all the side doors from the walkway, there were 2 buttons in each area to allow this. Sorry for the long comment, see ya in the verse!

For the sake of maneuvers, specifically in Port, you Kind of need that starboard deck. Exactly the same way you have gondola wings on each side of ship bridges

Catty needs a childproof version of the pneumatic arms for spacer families. Edit: also a crane for the right hand side with controls in the viewing deck. edit 2: I couldn't tell if you can fit in the airlock between containers. It'd open up the possibility of keeping a container open to vacuum for extended periods of time if you could use each double air lock to purge atmosphere

The drake ships have been really something else. I used to not care for them, but after seeing this ship, Wow. I had to buy a Herald (partially because it is a ship with a unique mission/role, but mostly because it looks great! And the little they have show for the Cutlass rework.. I may want one of those as well!

The amount of detail in this game.... wow. I can't wait until the final release. If CIG actually delivers what they have been promising (which is hard to tell if they will... sometimes the game feels like it's on the edge of failing because of production speed, broken promises and repeatedly missed release dates) I will spend my weekends living a second life in star citizen.

5:28 i just noticed how small the gun on the command module is for how bulky a "ship" it is. and thats just the command module, not the whole caterpillar. what are those, M3As? it looks big enough to carry at least a couple S3s. its bigger and bulkier than an Aurora, so why not?

Suggestion: Bind your toggle walk and run keys, you get a better walk through feel then running through the ship. Other then that great video as usual, good detail. Sorry about your dog lost ours last month after 12 years, hang in there.

I wouldn't mind seeing a secondary piloting console where the tractor beam control room is. If the command module is detached and the ship needs some kind of emergency corrective maneuvering than it's the perfect place to do slow speed piloting from. You don't even need a seat in the tractor station. Just an upright bracing board would be needed for the pilot to stand against as he gently pilots the defrocked Caterpillar.

The detail is great but wish they provided a larger storage area, combine 2nd and 3Rd modules into 1 to allow for carrying larger items, space port parts o carrying ships to new bases. All in all think the Starfarer will pay off better. Expect the coming modules to be expensive and difficult to make use of in a ship with minimal defenses and marginal manoeuvrability.

When do you think they'll add modules? Honestly this looks like the best option for a "home base" style ship. Add a handful of buccaneers, a herald, and a couple Cutlass w/dragonfly and you've got yourself a uniformed fleet.

Hello, regarding the turret textures. I think that it may be more related to that particular hangar lights system, I have heard that lights are a little bit messy there. For example I have the same turret on my Cutlass Black and it looks gourgeous in other enviroments and ambients. Good vid!

It would only make sense to have a bath on a luxury ship like the andromeda variant. But other than that it wouldn't be logical to have a bath in a ship as it takes up so much space.

Got quiet the Milleniumfalcon vibes from that side Cockpid ^^ But well that is a really nice and versatile ship there. In my opinion they should make different interior designs available. That rusty kind of ship is nice but the Caterpillar could be so much more than an wracked old frighter. It could very well be Luxurious and bring along all those cars/fighters of that rich person and and house whole suites in its Cargo Modules. One of that modules has room for two floors ^^. It also could be outfitted with medical facilities and be a flying hospital. Or science ship or carrier or house big weapon installments. A ship like that would easily be outfitted to do nearly every rolle. Also that Comandmodule/shuttle/escapepod Module is a sweet idea. What the ships not just the caterpillar but every single one currently in starcitizen leak is the warm housey feeling what Serenity from Firefly for example has. They bring in very high effort to make it look industrial and used but forget that it is also home to its crew. And the Crewspace of the Caterpillar looks nothing like anybody could relax in there. It is to dark and to clean. Why only an eating place with seating? Why is there no place for recreation? A livingroom kind of place. Also why has the main ship no real Bathroom and true Quarters for the crew. In the Comandmodul its nice that it is kind of cramed but on the main ship should be some more space for the single crewmember. I quiet hope that is one thing they finally make right with the 890 jump but that will be an Luxury ship so that is kind of basic for it to be believable i guess. I hope we get to see a different option for an more alive interior. Maybe two to three versions like one for the poor used massy frighter. One for the clean luxury/medical ship and one for the Military/exploration which is something in between both.

The Hull D seems far less versatile. With the caterpillar you could probably play a science, exploration, or smuggling role if you outfit it correctly.
