It's also noteworthy, that you can also have 2-3 reels for a rod and change the lines on them and have a completely different set up depending on what you're throwing. Like for instance, I can take a 7.3 MH fast and use it for light flipping or frogging with braid, change the reel out to something that has copolymer and now I got a great mid depth cranking or chatterbait rod.

Might sound strange but I understood the dynamics of my spinning/casting gear so much better after I started playing with different tenkara rods. Always love your videos guys...nobody does it better!!! One little gripe and it's nothing too bad but I've noticed the past few rod/reel combo videos that your "budget" rods price has gone up considerably from the budget rods you guys used to recommend in previous years. The rods you used to recommend were right around the $100 mark give or take $10 but recently I've noticed that many of your budget offerings have creeped up to $150+ and while definitely on the lower end pricewise compared to how expensive the really good rods are I feel it's a tick above what the average Joe or beginner feels is budget. I know to a lot of guys a $100 rod would be the most expensive rod they've ever owned. Like I said, it's a minor gripe and by no means am I slamming you guys, just food for thought. Keep up the good work!!!

If I may… I’m a huge proponent of the St. Croix mojo bass line! I’ve been using them since they came out with the line and I’ve tried all brands in that $150 dollar price range and for me personally St. Croix is the best for me! (Except their top water and jerk bait rods, not worth it!)
@rcc71702 жыл бұрын
I really enjoy them as well. I enjoy my 13 omen for jerkbait but haven't tried the top water. Why don't you like those two specifically?
@jasonrutherfordbassfishing2 жыл бұрын
@@rcc7170 the top water rod is way to soft in the tip and just a touch to light in the spine which both makes for difficult hook-sets and a lot of work to walk the dog. The jerkbait rod has to long of a butt making it difficult to use for extended periods of time and the tip seems a bit light as well. I’m only 5’5” and so for those two techniques I’m having custom rods built. Not cheap but if your trying to win tournaments and you don’t have a good top water or jerkbait game I don’t think your maximizing your potential.

Great video Tim with fantastic info. One consideration that anglers should make as far as applying this content is that it’s ideal for fishing in the back of someone else’s boat. You are limited in how much gear you can bring and so having 3 - 4 rods that are “do all” rods is invaluable. I’m not in tournaments anymore but do fish from the back occasionally with a buddy who has a completely different style than me so I’m never sure what we will be doing out there. Having these types of set ups can make all the difference. Thanks again to you and Matt for sharing such quality content. Really appreciate all the work you put into these for us.
