I just tested the Italian ceramic plates that sportsman's guide is selling. 26 year old plate and it stopped 7.62x39, 5.56 (55gr & 62gr) dead in it's tracks with no defacing in the back. I shot 6.5 creedmoor at it and it stopped half way through, with a slight bump in the back. I can show you the pictures. I think it be Kool if you could test them yourself.

I have a couple of these too, thanks for sharing.
@TheBluewingdevil8 ай бұрын
@@benfuct5880 I also got the polyurethane plates and tested them. They stop 7.62x39, 5.56 55gr, but the 5.56 62gr steel core goes through with ease. Each plate got its benefits. The ceramic is definitely stronger but way heavier. The polyurethane plates are super light and floatable, but weaker.

Liked that you went from the 30-06 down, you should shoot it again to see if the ceramic is still there, maybe some green tip. It has the color of Boron carbide instead of the cheaper alumina carbide which is heavier and weaker. Really minor thing but I noticed that the second slow motion shot on the armor on all the shots have a dog whistle or 20khz sound I believe, almost couldn’t hear it. Also wish other reviews could tear open the front to have a look inside before/after. Some armor have multiple hexagon plates. That’s actually a really good price for under $235 a plate.

Can you do a video with level lV and lllA combo? Simulate a plate over soft armor? 30-06 so, .300 win mag, .338 lapua, then .50 bmg 👍🏻
@oldscratch35352 жыл бұрын
There's really no added performance benefit. At most, the IIIA soft armor is just going to help with blunt force protection from the back face deformation. Its not going to stop threats that a level IV wouldn't already stop on its on. I use a Marine Corp issue Eagle plate carrier which has IIIA soft armor permanently sewn into the carrier. They were made to be used with SAPI and ESAPI plates which have to be used with the soft armor in order to be considered safe for use. The soft armor isn't adding ballistic protection. Its just there for back face deformation and to catch potential fragments of the bullet and especially the ceramic. The plate is doing all the work. I've only seen one company that claims to offer protection from .50bmg and that's Adept Armor. Even so, its only at long range distances. They call it a Level IV+ plate. It uses silicon carbide, titanium diboride, and a UHMWPE backing plate. Its specifically made to counter high velocity, tungsten core AP rounds. There's likely no plate that will protect you from close range, large caliber, heavy weapons. It may not penetrate, but the deformation and energy transferred into your body will likely kill you.
