Me and my buds almost always shoot at the designated range managed by the Conservation department. And after shooting there for over 15 years, we've never had an accident or anything of the like. Everyone there is always kind, considerate and cautious. There's a level of humility, respect and even camaraderie there.

Great video! My crew always has two fire extinguishers, first aid and small hospital access in a town on the way out to BLM spots. While safety is our number one priority, what I can't emphasize to the group enough is how important it's for us to pack out more trash than what was there when we got there. I usually end up with at least 1 full 50 gallon trash bag of casings and shells, cans and glass, cigarette butts and plastic jugs. Worst find was a several older computer monitors and a TV. Kinda sucks when I have to do it by myself at the end of the day. Also, your fit is fly AF.

Times I have gone to an unmanaged range was to a quarry in the Oregon coastal range, it eventually got shut down due to people did not clean up after themselves, and also the locals started using it as a landfill. Which even with taking out more than we brought in rapidly overflowed. It was also an active quarry in the summer, so we went shooting in the fall and during the winter. I miss it, need to find something like that out here in the Denver area.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the title was what I learned as the fourth rule of firearm safety: I'm responsible to be certain of my target AND what's beyond my target, because I'm responsible for what that projectile does. Over the two years or so I've been encountering your videos, I have greatly appreciated your focus on safety. I LIKE for folks to not get hurt in the first place! Living as I do a bit farther east of you, I don't have as great a fire concern as folks out west, but it's good to keep fire suppression tools on hand anyway. I can't imagine going to a firing range (even my local indoor place) without an IFAK. Having two (or more) designated evac drivers and two (or more) folks who know how to plug holes in event of a crisis sounds like overkill until you wonder what happens if the one D/D or medic is the injured party. I once saw some folks setting up to use an abandoned quarry as their backstop for some plinking. I was driving past at the time, and was very glad to keep going away, even as I thought those folks were about to do the "Here, hold my beer!" last words out of an idiot's mouth trick. Thank you for the rest of this list. It seems that most of the items on the list boil down to "don't be a jerk," but it's good to think of ways to not be a jerk. I'm sure I'm not the only person who appreciates the reminders.

In Spain the thing it's different, we don't have "public shooting ranges" the closest thing that we may have it's hunting areas, you pay for use it and yeah, it's "public soil" (meaning that belongs to the government/country) but if you paid for your license, security safe, hunting firearm and ammo... you can go there and hunt or "just shoot" when the hunting season it's open, even stablish "your own shooting range" placing/setting your own paper usualy or steel targets around, but the begining of this land, the parking lot, use to be full of trash and the whole hunting area, at least here.. use to be full of empty cases, shells and damn snacks papers, it's a shame and pain to see a nature area like that.

"There's a saying in prize fighting. Everyone's got a plan until they have been hit" Good video tacticool GF! It might seem like common sense and the hardest thing to phuck up, even on purpose. But hurting someone on accident is a thing you don't want to take lightly at all. It's very easy to get over confident and lazy about safety over time. DON'T! "Pshhh phuck off I'm a pro I know what I'm going" "Yeah yeah don't shoot people lol deerrrrr" "I been doing this for decades." That's the kind of attitude that will get you in trouble lol. Just saying. My dad. Air force retired master sarg. Trained in many fire arms. And guess what happened? One day he was showing me his 357 magnum. He wanted to show me how they play russian roulette. I was like, dad... I know how to play that phucked up game you don't need to show me. He was drunk and wanted to show me anyways. Moron forget where he put the round. Thought the next round would come up empty. Dude shot the stove on accident. It was indoors and so loud that when it happened all I can remember is us shouting at each other without being able to hear each other. It was just a constant ringning in my ears for like 10 minutes lol. Luckily he was safe enough to never point it at anyone. But you know... That was a trained veteran and his ego got the best of him. Someone could have been killed or seriously effed up. DON'T BE MY DAD lol.

Last time I was out in the woods doing some shooting there were a pile of younger folks doing drills and were using my car for cover and left tons of garbage. No holes in my car though.

I think you missed what 'cold range' should mean. Some say that you should not even be stacking mags during cold range. From my experience, this varies, so, as stated, understand what being a dick is at your spot. But at the very least, all weapons should be down, mags dropped, bolts open, and in safe if possible with the model. Firearms should not be in hand during cold range!
