Thx, I think DH tank will stay as my favourite. 1. DH is good in M+ and Raid. 2. Especially in M+, assuming that most DPS will be casters again (and yes, retri is a caster in such a terminology), are relying on the DH 5% dmg buff. 3. Similar to prot pala, the DH is great for PUGs. You can rely less if other players will interrupt. This correlates with point 2. 4. In Raid, you often have small windows with massive damage to the tank. I play all tanks except the Warri, and must say that DH and Pala do have the most "oh shit" buttons for such a situation. If you miss as a blood DK to have enough rune power, you are doomed, despite this being mostly reactive and other than Pala or DH, which can already use a defensive tool proactively. So, for most common raid players I would say DH or Pala is the better choice in a Raid.

Amen, if you're looking to do things like +10s for loot or heroic raiding (and even mythic raiding outside of the top guilds) then you'll be more than fine on literally any spec, as always!

I feel like blood dk has one of the smoothest rotations, and consistency. Allot of the other tanks are pretty sloppy imo in their design. You're spamming so many things that just don't feel that effective. Blood everything you hit is doing something really impactful.

@@Jo-Jo8vs I agree completely. But, then again that can be said for allot of the tanks. Prot warrior is worse than blood IMO. If you drop ignore pain, or shield block even once, you're toast. Blood, it's not really hard to have runic power. Deff when you learn the fights you already know when to have a nice pool ready. And Blood has a ton of defensives to help mitigate possible mistakes. Brew is terrible. If you stop doing combat for a milisecond you can get rekt. Blood to me just seems really forgiving, once you learn to manage runic power.

Negate entirely no, but there are a few bosses where you can get pretty substantial damage increases (think balakar khan in Nokhud for example). I don't have an exact number atm but they do exist!

Yeah it's super disappointing, I believe Guardian has the least changes of any spec currently going into the expansion which kind of sucks. It's not like it needed a ton, but to get nothing but ANOTHER general tree rework that doesn't address the problems of the tree feels kinda bad.

What tank would be best for high-level solo content such as delves? Since delves are supposed to become the third pillar of end-game content along with raids and mythic+, I was wondering what tank would be more suited. Probably the tank with the highest self-sustain and mobility?

In my brief testing so far, I'm leaning towards Prot Warrior. They just feel very fun, and as you said "like a brick wall". Always liked the guardian of elune playstyle aesthetically, and mountain thane gives you that in warrior (sort of) but with lightning.

Honestly across the board I wouldn't say any tank is way more complex than another, so the best choice as someone starting out is the spec you're most interested in, whether that be playstyle, class fantasy, or something else entirely. If you like the spec you're playing you're much more likely to do better as a tank imo!

Given the keys being run without healers, do you think they might have intended to nerf tank self-healing or was it too lopsided for that?

Nah, no healer keys don't really have anything to do with tank sustain and are more a combination of strong off-healing CDs (like vampiric embrace/nature's vigil), DPS specs having too many defensives, and specific keys having little to no unavoidable damage. The current issue is specifically with a certain type of healing that not all tanks even use (BDK for example is unaffected) and is likely just an oversight, similar to what happened back in DF beta when they buffed health pools.

My prediction is that Prot Pally will be the top M+ tank in S1.. Right now most are ranking it low because it has the WOG healing issue but I fully expect that to be fixed. And also expect them to get some help with mana sustain at least when spent on self healing. So once that happens Prot Pally's ability to interrupt more than everyone else is going to be just too valuable, specially now that mobs are back to chain-casting their spell unless an actual interrupt is used. Oh and even more so with VDH no longer having double sigil of silence.

Monk is just 1 tuning change on Shado-Pan away from being god tier in raids, They have insane survivabiliy, huge mobility and a very good and consistent AoE damage profile

9:40 Blizzard is usually pretty decent about fixing this tbf. Warlock had mana issues back in Nyalotha due to having 10 billion haste with corruptions so they simply gutted the mana costs of the problem abilities.

I hope so, I'm a bit worried because the mana cost was added in DF to combat the strength of Ppal off-healing at the time, so not sure if they'll be willing to roll it back.

Iirc the issue was SotR uptime was so high (or it didn't matter that much if you dropped it) that you could get away with spending MOST of your HP on WoGs. I feel like there's a world they can "punish" overspending while still not impacting playing as "intended".

@@amethonys2798 Yeah I think if they put a 50% mana reduction on the Shining Light procs specifically it would be enough, you would still eventually run into problems but that pushes it back to the 6+ minute mark. I wouldn't be made with a 100% reduction on the procs though just to never have the issue ever hahaha

Sounds to me like as a casual player, BDK seems like the perfect choice for survivability and doing a spot of pumping with damage without feeling the need to push for high keys! I suppose I wonder how BDK is looking from a fun perspective!

I played guardian for seasons 3 and 4, but I'm really leaning towards playing bdk next expansion since Bear receives no love or whatever, and I always wanted to try DK. I will stick to my usuals which are paladin and DK. Hopefully scaling AP gets fixed. I will still play monk and warrior more recreationally too though. For BDK look up at top DK Kyrasis. He is always running with umbilus also taking rune tap it gives a lot of survibility specialy when now in TWW most damages is shadow and bloodshot is becoming less relevant

100% aware of Kyrasis, which is why I mentioned that it's not impossible to play high keys as DK, just significantly harder than other tank specs with the current issues.

If I get TWW I hope the tanks are at least fun to play. I tank on all spec capable. If Delves are gonna be offering solid solo content for gear based on how good you are and how high the challenge goes, this may bring me back to WoW. Legion Mage Tower got me playing all 36 specs good enough to complete all the challenges at the time. Solo challenge content is always nice. Sometimes breaks from all the pugs is nice.

My understanding of delves is that the gear is capped at Tier 8, and beyond that you only progress for cosmetics similar to the mage tower. There's also a "secret" delve at the end which you have to unlock that is just a single boss encounter which I'm looking forward to!

@@Tactyks i haven't looked at the TWW version, but the engi BRez has historically been....unreliable. Even the "OP" BFA one required being in melee range and could still fail. I've been messing around as Brew on live gearing up (nothing too high so like 13s or whatever) and I refuse to touch the wrists because of how many times they have gotten me killed on other classes in previous seasons.

@@amethonys2798 Yeah the DF version isn't great, in TWW it's now just a consumable item that doesn't require an engineer and it has a shorter cast time. Still has the potential to fail and requires you to be near the target so it isnt perfect, but it's way more accessible so anyone can use it

Yeah that's a big problem for some specs in general moving into a new expansion and losing out on a ton of haste/an impactful tier bonus, not sure what a fix for that is though unfortunately (havoc is similar imo).

Even changing tier pieces can do this. Exemple, I had massive fun with vengeance... now im looking multiple specs on beta and im just bitter losing what i liked. I had fun playing feral back in legion, but they annihilated the spec xD

I feel like they should focus on what is problematic on specs instead of rolling the dice everytime and having to refix and rebalance everything. I would glady simply take a new talent row every expac and tweaks for problematic specs instead of risking ruining a popular spec that is working. But that's me.

That's definitely what happened in DF thanks to repeated nerfs throughout season 1, but I don't think it's a general pattern, at least looking back at SL/BfA. Hopefully the spec doesn't get over-nerfed like it was in DF!

Did you managed to test these tanks on higher keys where actually matters the difference? Like 12+ seems the tipping point. Seeing DH at A seems a bit of a trap after how they nerfed the whole class.

VDH is definitely less fun than it is now imo (due to loss of tier/haste values, not just sigil stuff), but I think what is really helping them over some of the other tank specs is the value their hero trees give them. That being said, as I mentioned near the end of the video I can see some small changes launching both BDK/Ppal ahead of them in keys, but currently I think if you look at their damage output with chaos brand and their general durability they aren't in a terrible spot, even if its worse than it is currently in DF.

Sucks how relatively poor Druid is across the field. Feral is looking decent but not great by any means. Balance is just pure dogshit at the moment. Not sure about Resto, not a fan anyway. Bad time to be a Druid main, but I guess I'll be returning to Bear into TWW.

In a vacuum their ST is definitely lacking, but in M+ specifically you can sort of cheese higher ST damage by building up your damage pool on an AoE pack before a boss and not spending it until the boss fight!

It boggles my mind that guardian's Berserk still needs 3 talents, then 1 for Incarnation and another to improve it. If they just made Berserk 1 talent, that would be "fine" and sort of understandable, but it's not okay the way it is now. They _really_ should do something about that.

The overall output is definitely really high, I'm just worried that their main issue in high keys (dying to regular melee swings) hasn't really been addressed with the talent rework and could still potentially crop up at the highest level of M+. That being said if you're not someone looking to push super high and instead just do weekly keys for vault I think they are an extremely powerful choice!

Maybe they are not supposed to heal alot because they are tank spec? If you give them stronger heals in tank then playing healer would be boring.

If the healing is to others I'd agree, but when it comes to healing yourself specifically I don't think tanks should be reliant on healers. You can give healers something to do without making tanks feel weak imo, and no one wants to play a spec that feels weak.

@@neener461 Hard disagree, and like I said tanks being able to heal themselves doesnt mean there's no need for healers, you can give them something to do without making tanks weak. If you look at all the "no healer" keys being done, NONE of them are because the tank can self-sustain. They're all because DPS Players can self-sustain, thanks to having too many defensive options, powerful off-healing, and generally not a lot of unavoidable group damage in certain dungeons.

I dont see how warrior can remain top of M+. It will be the same as DF S1. The tank with the most utility and lock down will be dominate bc TWW S1 is looking even harder than DF dungeons were for interupts etc. My expectations are going to be DK, Pally, VDH in that order.

If you're looking strictly at utility I don't see how BDK is any better than Pwar, they both are very similar in terms of what they provide. I do agree the dungeon pool is looking a bit caster heavy, will need to see what adjustments happen before launch before deciding on anything though!

@@Tactyks Answer is kind of simple: gorefiend's grasp which also comes with a silence (I know Prot Warrior has something similar, but it does not have the grip part of it, which a lot of packs do include casters that are far away from the on-going aoe dmg). BDK also comes with a self cheat death and brez, AMZ, Ams to +2 party members (even if it's such a small absorb for them it still helps a lot), while Warrior has a rallying cry. Sure, Prot Warrior will take over in the first part of the season, but once tanks obtain their preferrable stats they'll just take over quite quickly. Maybe if they reworked champion spear to provide party-wide 10% crit for the duration of it or something similar to what we used to have in Shadowlands, such as the necrolord banner, it might make Warrior unique and viable in some comps, but in the status that's in right now I don't see how they're the better choice over BDK / VDH.

​@@alexatudor8089 You're just kind of listing abilities though which can also be done for Pwar. Brez is irrelevent with the new engineering item, the AMS shield is equivalent to Mountain Thane intervene shield, and Rally is similar albeit weaker than AMZ. In the grand scheme of things, none of these are particularly good or impactful for either spec. Then if you want to talk about mass grip, it's actually tough to fit in the point for Gorefiends on its own in some builds, let alone a 2nd point to add a silence and 30s CDR. Plus that 2nd point is pretty low value considering gorefiends is already a stop, so you're just adding 2s of lockdown and 30s of CDR to it which isnt great. Disrupting shout is 1yd less range than gorefiends so the only thing it won't group is archer mobs, it lasts 6s, it has a shorter CD, and it's easier to pickup in the tree, so by all accounts its significantly better. Not to mention the most impactful "utility" brought by either spec is actually battle shout if physical DPS are strong, which who knows right now but definitely could be the case.

Yeah I'm always a bit skeptical about the state of BDK in high keys, they're always super tanky until they aren't. They don't have the DRW uptime they had back in SL S3/S4 and haven't gained any other tools to help with their weakness to melee swings, so while they are looking good on the relatively low level beta keys people are doing, I am concerned it won't translate to 0.1% title keys and higher. That being said it's exceptionally strong outside of that so if you aren't pushing super hard it'll be a great pick.

Without having extra targets to hit their ST is the lowest among all tanks currently, plus they don't have super powerful raid utility. It's not like they're bad, but outside of monk buff I don't see a reason to bring them.

@Tactyks I'd argue they have more utility than 2-3 tanks. They also can cheese mechs if played well, simultaneously, dish out decent damage. While MWs may be the "go to" for Monks, Brews are definitely not a last place tank. This is, of course, assuming that dps doesn't sway us on tank selections. Which tbf, you've stated that before.

I think it's pretty important to make the distinction between raid and M+, something like survivability is WAY more important when pushing high keys, whereas in raid it's just kind of assumed you work with what you've got and you figure it out, even if your spec is a bit undertuned defensively. Prot Paladin has so much insane raid utility and solid off-healing that even being undertuned it's a very good choice for mythic progression, whereas something like brew doesn't have the same level of raid utility, AND they are really lacking in pure ST where they can't abuse Master of Harmony funnel.

I think it’s hard for you to be judging this if your doing the 5 content and I don’t mean that as disrespect but people are actively testing 12+ as brew and bdk and so far the verdict for that has been the 3 shining tanks is brew bdk and prot war for m+ however prot warr is in limbo dependant on spell reflect we’re and bdk and brew are feeling very tanky in the 12s and are dishing out the dmg other tanks are not as for raid u only take what u need to fill in buffs it’s always been that way

For what it's worth, my M+ rankings do have both Pwar and Brew in the top, I'm just always a bit skeptical of BDK in the highest keys because of their potential weakness to regular melee hits which hasn't been adressed in TWW, could be wrong about it but it's early in beta so we'll have to see. And we're not talking 12s there, we're talking whatever is going to be the 0.1% title level keys.

Right now, all tanks have some good points and some glaring issues but ilvls being capped no one can do any more than this video and express an opinion based on what they themselves have tested. Absolutely bonkers tier list. Brewmaster LOSING damage? 800k overall dps is comparable to most dps specs in the game right now. Guardian Arcane tree is doing close to that dmg as well. Dont make a tier list if you arent sure on how to play the specs, its just misleading. This isnt me being cranky, its just plain wrong.😅

Brewmaster damage was specifically referring to ST when not able to cheese with Master of Harmony, and Guardian arcane damage is a lot better after the buffs which happened after the release of this video, which with it being beta is bound to happen quite frequently.

One doesn’t need to exclude the other. Based on the tanks role they should be relatively self sufficient. Healers role should be to pop in and save the tank in emergencies, but largely focus on keeping the DPS alive. Especially given the next rotation of dungeons. DPS will need a lot of healing from the healer. You aren’t out of a job if tanks are self sufficient and if they aren’t you’ll go from having a healer problem to no one wanting to tank.

To tack on to what John said, tanks already are a low representation role, making them feel weak and reliant on a healer isn't a way to increase that. NO ONE wants to play a game and feel like their character is weak. You can give healers something to do without kneecapping tanks.

@@xSadalx you misunderstood what I was saying. “Pop in” is in reference to tanks only. I am in agreement largely with your views on the healer role. I think the game has too much defensive bloat for DPS and therefore the healer is becoming less and less important. With that being said, based on what the tank has to do and the pulls you need to time keys, I do not believe it would be fun or feasible for healers to keep the tank alive with the insane dmg coming at them while also keeping DPS up. Again, self sufficient tanks and healers healing aren’t mutually exclusive in my opinion to make a healthy game.
