Very useful video for novices. My wife and I followed Taddy's sequence as we took apart a Bryant cassette similar to the cassette Taddy works on. We brushed off most of the grit that clung onto the grill. We cleaned the coils with A/C Foaming Cleaner spray (ACE Hardware). Let the foam stay on for 15 minutes. Then rinsed off the foam with water in a spray bottle and removed the drain plug to release dirty water into a pail. We reversed Taddy's video to reassemble the cassette. Two useful tips: 1) Before disconnecting wires, take a several photos of the circuit board and place tape on wires to identify which plug goes into which receiver. We marked one set by writing "1" on 2 pieces of tape. Attach the tapes to the plug and receiver. To reassemble, we pushed plug 1 into receiver 1. 2) Use KZbin videos like "You can't remove this connector" to learn how to disconnect and reconnect wires to Molex receivers that are on the control circuit board.

Just one more point...I think the Idea of the video is to encourage a homeowner to do a simple job by himself. But as you finish the cleaning process the remaining sockets in the unit will be with moisture or water which has a good chance of short circuit if just plugged in . Suggest you need to blow dry whatever connectors after the cleaning process

Good stuff. I liked seeing how that comes apart. If I run across them in the future I’ll know how to tackle it.

Taddy .. thanks for the video. Need clear a point. As you wash the coil the dirt fills in the drain pan and overflows to the maintenance bag. As so isn't there a chance for dirt to be stagnated in the pan and choke your drain pump or line ?. Suggest it would be better to have the drain plug removed in the cleaning process ,so that all dirt would drain to the bucket.

Thanks for making this video. One consideration. Since we always want to clean coils opposite direction of air flow - maybe it’d be best to completely drop the drain pan - add your coil cleaner to the inside but wash the coil from the other side. Probably get a 90 adapter for the pressure washer - make sure it’s not any kind of pressure that can damage the fins. Just an observation - probably over thinking

Taddy, I’m glad I don’t sell those things unless a standard split hp is not appropriate for the situation. American Standard AH PM: Turn off circuit breaker, remove Twelve 5/16” hex screws, remove air handler panels, clean coil, drop algaecide tablets in pan, inspect electrical, reinstall covers, screws, turn circuit breaker on. Done in 6 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to get prepared and just get access to those mini split coils and then hope n pray you don’t break any of that plastic or those connectors. Then hope it doesn’t throw an error code once you wrangle it all back together.

Hello, I'm trying to take the fan blower off my indoor cassette unit. I've removed the nut and the special washer but the fan blade won't come out from the shaft. Anything else that could be the culprit?

Can a single cassette heat and cooling a 800sq.ft 3br home?
@TaddyDigest
@TaddyDigest 7 ай бұрын
It depends on the layout and also depends on if it's foam insulated. I put a three ton mini split cassette in a foam insulated three thousand square foot house Ten years ago and it's still works great

@@TaddyDigest Alright it's a all brick home 10in thick 2 family home. Flat roof rectangle layout. No foam insulation and I want to only put it in the second floor. Is it do able and what size do you recommend.
