Nigeria hasn’t done enough in history. This should’ve been thought a long time ago for the sake of National Reconciliation. We are in the era of internet where information spread like wildfires, an era when the politician in Nigeria had become evil geniuses. They will exploit our poor understanding of history to actually instigate another civil war. What was flight before wasn’t civil but rather tribal war 2 against 1 region. This time it will be civil war because the military and the upper echelon won’t be part of it but will ignite the fire of destruction .

The arrest by Ifeajuna was traumatic. It is easy to accuse anyone looking at any other version of the man's death. But then, did Segun Osoba lie about the condition of the body he saw? I personally interviewed Mbu when this controversy broke out in 2010. Mbu told me he spoke based on what Christopher Okigbo told him. Every knowledgeable Nigerian knows Okigbo and Ifeajuna were great friends, and Okigbo had free association with many of the January coup plotters. Sad Ifeajuna's book about the coup never saw light of day; it may unravel many things. I truly wish the coup never took place. May the golden voice continue to rest in peace.

@@ForesytheThis is a subject description of the manuscript, the people should have been afforded the opportunity to decide on the validity of Ifeajuna’s story; Achebe was wrong for not publishing it, notwithstanding that Ifeajuna had no more credibility or integrity after the failed January coup.

@@denniskcobi3470 Can we just stop playing the tribalism game. It is not helping us at all. The unified government, 2:25 was a blunder and Chief Azikiwe regretted the coalition later. Ifeajuna insisted, till death, that he didn't shoot Sir Tafawa Balewa. He (Ifeajuna) confirmed that others were shot. The coup plotters planned a legal handover from Sir Tafawa Balewa to Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Olusegun Osoba (a Yoruba man) was one of the people who said there was a bullet wound on the Prime Minister.

If we want to fully address this problem, we have to first start with honesty. The igbos were the one's who staged the first military coup in Nigeria, which led to a series of multiple successive coups. They killed most if not all of the notable leaders of the other regions especially in the North such as Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello. Not only that, they later launch a war against the Nigerian government which can be seen as a treason able offense. The igbos lost that war, and due to sentiments from that the igbos are being marginalised politically till this day in Nigeria. Not saying that is right, because that is revisiting the sins of the father on the son. But let's not pretend like the igbos are an innocent party in this. Because if the 1966 coup had succeeded or they igbos had won the biafran war, we would be having a completely different conversation today

So the likes of Major Ademoyega, Captains Fola Oyewole, Ganiyu Adeleke and Lieutenant Olafimihan, who actively participated in the January 1966 coup were Igbo? Colonel Arthur Unegbe who was shot by the plotters in front of his wife is not an Igbo, abi? I hope you know the truth about what happened till war broke out on 6 July 1967. Nigeria attacked Biafra that day on its northern borders at Garkem and Ogoja and General Gowon declared the war, calling it a police action. @@ElFenomeno.9395 it is unfortunate, lies, manipulations and fraud is actually cultural to them. This was how Zik started his propagandas against Awolowo and the foolish Ahmadu Bello followed him because the phylosophy of Awolowo was too much for them to understand. It all ended in betrayals and genocide between them. I am not surprised Zik and Balewa joined hand together to claim Awolowo planned a coup against them and then sentenced him to prison. Truth vindicated Awo at last, and they started killing themselves while Awolowo was away in the prison. Yet, children of Zik still blamed it on Awo. It is in their culture.

Exactly, just like the way the Jews Zionist invaded the land of the Palestinians and claimed it was given to them from God lead to what is happening in the current situation. Also it’s as a result of the USA and the west invasion of the Middle East since back in 1974 was the reason why terror attacks are happening in the west by those people oppressed from the root. Only if non of this has not happened in the past then a peace is at least guarantee. The Igbo’s shouldn’t have done what they did back then perhaps we would not have being in this position today.
