The “pianist” Toumas is the band leader and writes 99% of the songs. He’s a genius. Keep going there is a very deep catalogue.

According to Tuomas, it's "only" 90 percent. He's just the keyboard player, not a guitarist, singer or anything else in the band, which is why he needs the other band members to finish writing the songs. The whole band finishes what Tuomas started.

Oh, if you like this one, wait until you hear the song that usually comes next in the rotation -- Romanticide. That one comes in hard and heavy and gives every single member of the band a chance to shine. And, in that one, you will get your first listen to Nightwish's bassist/male vocalist Marko Hietala. I'm not going to say too much, but just wait until you hear the way he and Floor both are so different in their styles and yet harmonize so very well together.

"That little drum solo." Glad you commented on it, but I wish more people recognized the absolute genius of what Jukka is pulling off here. He is spinning out multiple lines of rhythmic ideas in a counterpoint so complex that when Kai took over as drummer, he stated it took him quite a while to figure out what Jukka was doing. And Kai has proved himself to be of the highest caliber himself. No matter how many times I hear this song, I get completely mesmerized in the central section.

Nightwish Army Finland here. A very nice reaction! Just Nightwish doing Nightwish things! And as you have surely noticed, although they are all outstanding , none of them standout. Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics. And Floor is our Valkyrie Goddess! Btw. try "Romantice" & "Ever Dream" from Wacken next.

Yes, Floor is big. That's one of the reasons why she can go on singing without the need to breath. Six foot height is the average for males in the Netherlands, so for a woman it is not out of the "normal" range. After all we are the tallest nation in the world.

NW Army FL reporting in ;) They have been my favorite band since I was 15 (20 years, aaaaah!) and I used to get so much BS from other metalheads for liking "stuff like this." But you guys were spot on with the whole "they take you on a journey" thing. Nightwish are EXPERTS at just conveying emotion so completely and it's the kind of stuff that certain kind of people (you know, like me) are just hit square in the chest by, every. single. time. It sure took awhile!! But it never gets old seeing people discover my favorite band - finally. Please please please keep going. They have SUCH a broad range. Every Floor fan calls her "helicopter" a windmill as she's from the Netherlands. At this concert every song written for two previous singers Tarja Turunen ( 1996-2005 operatic) and Anette Olzon ( 2007-2012 pop) and Floor brings extra ability and versatility to every song but none written with growls. Tuomas, keyboards, tends to write melodic songs with great lyrics.

Before joining Nightwish, Floor had her own band called ReVamp. A lot of her songs from that band involved growling from her, Jord Otto (ReVamp guitarist) and the occasional singer on the album. "Disdain", "Wildcard" and "Misery's No Crime" live performances are the best examples on KZbin. Unfortunately there are no high quality videos out there for ReVamp. "Misery's No Crime" is a mind blowing example of her switching vocal gears mid song, where she ranges from growling, metal distortion, rock, pop, and classical voice, switching from one to the other on a dime.

Hi guys! This song is just - joyful. I love how the whole band is smiling by the middle of it, just having a wonderful time. Floor is really good at windmills, isn't she? I can't do that without getting dizzy. The whole Imaginaerum album is fantastic too. I saw Nightwish when it had just come out I think, they were with Anette (who is Swedish) and they were teasing each other onstage about hockey. Particularly awesome, as it was a concert in Canada. Also, one of my favourite lines in any song ever: "The whole world is a limitless chest of tales." Indeed it is, Tuomas, indeed it is.

I’m a new and now dedicated Nightwish fan myself. The algorithm came through for me by way of Dan Vasc metals covers. When I heard/saw my first Nightwish, Last Ride of the Day, I could not believe we had never heard of them here in the US. And I’m still not believing it. They’ve been around almost 30 years! Take your time, enjoy your ride but I can’t wait to hear you react to their new album, Yesterwynde (that’s wind as in wind yarn), and the song Lanternlight. Fun fact: Hans Zimmer, composer for the Pirate's of the Caribbean score (among many other movies, of coruse) is one of Tuomas' biggest inspirations musically. Tuomas, the keyboardist, is the composer and lyricist of the band! If you want growl from Floor, "Yours Is An Empty Hope" is where you want to go next! (I recommend the Vehicle of Spirit version that comes off one of their DVDS, as their official live on the channel is from their cruise ship performance, and first off the flashing lights in that one are atrocious, but also the camera shots of the band are not as good or clear, and I think it's just due to camera setup limitations. the Vehicle of Spirit version is in Wembley arena and the Wembley videos are beautifully shot)

It's perfect you said the intro music gave you creepy carnival vibes. This is the first main track following a short intro track for the Imaginarium album. The cover art for the album is of the entrance to a spooky carnival. There is also a full length movie which is meant to be a stand alone but companion piece to the album. The movie is also called Imaginarium. Much of the movie takes place in a creepy carnival. Mostly it's just the music without lyrics and not necessarily the entire song but every song on the album is used in the movie. The only music in the movie comes off this album. The 2012/13 world tour in support of the Imaginarium album. Approximately 1/2 the set list is from that album.

Since Floor is Dutch, we do call it a windmill . Nightwish does not do a lot of aggressive angry style metal. There are a couple songs. Most of the more aggressive singing is done be Marko (bassist) who is also a lead vocalist. "Romanticide" from this same show is metal Nightwish. Or your could check out "Yours is an Empty Hope" liv e from either Mexico City or Wembley arena. Also a heavier song with Floor doing more aggressive vocals and some growling on the chorus's. However, her growling takes on the support role for Marko who is singing the lead melody. Nightwish is not the pit type of band. Everyone is just having so much fun. No angry aggression to unleash. You will have to check out Floor in her earlier bands to hear her doing very aggressive singing.

Greetings. I watched my first Nightwish reaction video in 2020 and never looked back. Needless to say it helped keep my sanity during a crazy time with the lockdown and all. I now own all their albums including pre Floor, and all the concerts including this one. Yes, I dove into the Nightwish rabbit hole head first! 🤘🤘 A pit? Well, as long as I have known this band, and with all the concerts I've seen (on DvD) and the one I attended in NYC in 2022, I have never seen a mosh pit. I'm afraid the closest thing to a "pit" you will get to see at a NW concert is a BBQ pit! 😭💀 And I mean no disrespect at all but think about it... moshing to a symphonic metal band? Needless to say the fans find their time is best spent actually watching the band. Besides the performance itself, the Nightwish Army has much respect for the band and do "watch" the show they went to attend. Awesome reaction and ask questions, the Army will answer. This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you guys witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , although it is kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straight forward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA/PauFan🤘😎🤘.

It's a movie score from the film Imaginaerum, which is also a concept album by Nightwish. The song introduces the main character. Pirates of the Caribbean can be found here: VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Armada (Official Video) | Napalm Records Floor distances herself from the fact that she sings opera. It's a classical education, more like operetta. Floor says that her growls are bad. If something is bad for Floor, it's average. Average isn't enough for Floor. Under the bandana is long hair. It's not just Floor's height, she also has a big mouth, which creates a big funnel to get her voice out. She has a lot of talent, plus a lot of training to be able to use it. I've never seen pits in Nightwish. The music doesn't suit that.
